Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will announce his 2024 presidential campaign in a Twitter Spaces livestream with Elon Musk on Wednesday evening, according to people familiar with his plans.

DeSantis will speak with Musk at 6 p.m. ET on Wednesday and the campaign will release a video formally launching the campaign. DeSantis is seen as the most formidable challenger to former President Donald Trump for the Republican nomination.

Musk on Twitter in November 2022 said he would support DeSantis if he ran for president.

A primary does not "divide" conservatives. That is the whole point of primaries to air out ideas and policies in debate and then unite behind the best candidate. It is only harmful when things get personal and so far it is Trump who has a penchant for making it all personal attacks.
