When I first started miscing in '08 I had just started a job in corporate fitness. I lost about 50 lbs and wanted to show progress pics. My before pic was my work pic which hung up on the wall when you first walk into the fitness center. I was wearing my name tag which had my full name, and my work uniform saying the exact location of where I was. It was probably up for several months till I realized all the info was there. Thankfully never got doxxed. Could def have ended poorly.

I think this method is foolproof, as I used it a while back.

On your computer, crop the picture. Draw lines all over it, including over the face to some extent.

Take a picture of the picture on the computer with your phone.

Post the picture that you took from your phone on the misc.

Impossible to detective then, right? The resolution would be different and also the image wouldn't be a match to anything due to lines, and also the EXIF data from the image itself would be different.

Eh, you won't find a matching image then, but you can try salvaging that image and looking for similar images, and missing geographic/personal details is always a huge risk.

I try to aware OPs when they're doxxable.

No, more that if you fuzz out the scribbled lines, and that person is maybe in a famous place, or just a place with pics of it on the internet, you could find that place.

Re: geographic/personal details, people think they're just posting a picture of a person/whatever, but then they miss a sweatshirt with a detail on it, some landmark in the distance, mail on the table, or a billion other things.

But was it this large of a threat? I feel like it happened once in a while to a well-known miscer but to have it happen twice so quickly and combined with the general tenor of the angry incel and/or male feminist vibe these days it just feels way more dangerous to me. I am probablt just forgetting how bad of a problem it was back then too I guess lol I have been gone for so long.
