hispanics are now the majority in Texas

Lloyd Potter, state demographer of Texas and director of the Texas Demographic Center, said Hispanic Texans made up 40.2% of the state’s population last summer, edging out non-Hispanic white Texans, who made up 39.8%.

I know this is pedantic but that's a plurality, not majority. Why would gun confiscation happen? Honestly I thought they were over 40% of the state years ago. Given that 200 yrs ago Texas was part of Mexico has Texas ever been under 20-25% hispanic?

Majority = 50% of greater

Hispanics now have a plurality in Texas.

It was inevitable. The trends have been this way for a while. We're about 10-15 years away from a minority-majority, where whites will have only a plurality in USA (but not a majority anymore). In California, whites became a plurality over a decade ago

I don't think it's a cause of concern. Many Hispanics identify as white in census, they often look white, and the women are pretty. Not all Mexicans and Hispanics look like George Lopez.

That 85% includes Hispanics who identify as white.

Non-Hispanic whites made up 68.7% of Texas in 1970, 65.7% in 1980, and 60.6% in 1990.

There wasno such category as hispanicon the census in 1965. Back then there was merely a 'Mexican' category, nothing else. And Mexico has plenty of white people. Back then white Mexicans had to pick one or the other. Until rather recently hispanics usually just were categorized as white. A lot are anyway, especially in South America. So most of the reason you're mistaken and Texas has actually always been more hispanics is because the Census has merely gotten better at identifying them, while it did a dogschit job before.

I think A lot of Mexicans were pushed out by the Rangers and frontiersman when the conflict started, the rest followed after the Alamo. The population of Mexicans in Texas didn't really shoot up until well after this.

I'd have to go back and re read all of this though. It's been too many years since I've researched the topic.

That chart clears nothing up. Need I repeat myself? No such category as hispanic during most of the decades they have a % of hispanic listed. Until the last couple of decades those figures prior are literally just guesses added in the 21st Century. Texas has no proper idea what share of its population was hispanic in 1980 for example, let alone prior.

Yeah the illegals we're getting aren't whites. Whites have more money in Latin America, so no reason for them to travel thousands of miles to the US.

Since 2010 TX added 4 million people to their population...about 200K were white. Thats math that can not be stopped.

The only thing keeping TX Red, and this is true for many current Red States is, white voters are overrepresented in the electorate compared to their population. For example, 60% of TX voters in 2020 were white. If it were 40%(actual white population) its game over.

White people who die in TX(true for America as a whole) are not being replaced.

Plus the border county Tejanos vote for the GOP at much higher rates than other Latinos. I think Abbott actually got over 40% of the Hispanic vote thanks to that.

The urban metro areas are getting bluer by the day thanks to booming Hispanic and Asian populations though

Damn, you guys used to try to be a bit more subtle with your racism and seemed to make an effort to hide it. Now it's "zomg latinos are gonna lower the IQ of Texas!" and "chill guys, it's not as bad as it seems, SOME OF THEM AREN'T BROWN!". Holy fuk.

I actually appreciate the honesty tho, it's really annoying to discuss with a racist that's not willing to accept they're racist.

HUH?

Not sure where you live but I live in S Cal and trust me none of what you wrote there is true.

90% are short, pudgy to fat, and many speak no English.

I see them and I never think elite or alpha or cute or pretty.

I think low pay wage job and someone who could care less about the USA.

I mean half of one of my bowling leagues is hispanic and everyone is fat. Not an exaggeration.
