I honestly doubt it. Most will convince themselves pretty hard that it's a good life and not a mistake. It's a defense mechanism more than anything. Imagine having to stare down 20-30 years of misery with full honesty.

2 things are true for the family man:

1.) He will low key talk about all the things you described in the OP.... wife always nagging, never gets to do anything, money is stretched thin, etc.
2.) He will turn around and say how he's one of the exceptions having it good if you openly challenge how many family men are miserable

They literally cannot let themselves come face to face with the reality that the next 20-30 years will be worse than prison and that their life is essentially over. It's easier to lie to themselves. It's the textbook definition of cope because it's all they can do. Even if they wanted there's no changing it. What are they gonna do? Divorce? That makes their life even worse. They have no outs left.

You do have less free time. I post a good amount lately, but usually as quick mental breaks from the grindy work I do. Once out of work, I don’t have much alone time to do stuff like go to a mall or drive to some place I want to see.

The trade off is worth it though. And your mind kind of changes too. If I’m out on my own, I do have thoughts about what the wife & kids are doing and how they are.

Edit: worth adding, when I do stuff on my own, I catch myself seeing something cool and wanting to point it out to somebody, like my son. Feels off when I can't. Like I said above, your mind/thought process can change when you actually have a family. I didn't particularly see myself as a family man until I became one.

Yeah it's much better to have a full schedule consisting of:
-Playing with my phone
-Laying by the pool
-Talking to boys on the internet

Find a wife who doesn't do that. It takes work to find a woman who had the right set of morals and principles, but it's not like it's completely inevitable she will get fat and alluva sudden become a monster.

Sure, if you are a low test male. A lot of married men are cucks and put women on pedestals. Under my roof, what I say goes. If she doesn't like it, she can move back in with her parents. (ded fkn srs)

Dated a woman with a daughter. Beautiful woman, pretty daughter. Experienced that "family with kids" life. Everything is darn cute, funny and cozy. We'd go do all sort of chit together. I could see the pull of family life. But it is very draining. Forget about your personal development. You gotta be already fully self-actualized, reached the heights of all your life goals to truly enjoy fully committed fam life. I just wasn't there yet.

Am I a coper? Maybe. I'm a pretty positive guy in general. I think if you interviewed everyone I know, I don't think you'd come up with more than one or two people who would say I've ever complained about my wife or kids. My life's not perfect, but I'm satisfied, at least, most of the time. If I can cope my way into thinking I'm happy, is that a bad thing?

I think one thing that men have to have in life to really be happy is purpose. A man can endure almost anything and feel OK about things as long as you can convince him he is appreciated. Family isn't the only source of purpose for men, but I think it's one of the more positive sources.

Agree completely. My wife and I are both really close to the same bodyweights we were when we got married 20 years ago. That seems to be getting rare, though. I can only think of a few other couples my age that can say the same thing. In most cases, one or the other has put on quite a bit. I think our success has been that we are both good influences on each other and we both value fitness. Also, couldn't agree more on the red flags comment. People do change over time, but usually it's slow and usually there are a lot of red flags that people choose to ignore because it's more convenient.

I agree that you have to reach a certain level of personal growth to be ready for marriage, but personal development doesn't stop with a family. I think most people need to get married and have kids to reach their full potential as humans. I know fantastic people who haven't had those experiences, so I'm not saying there aren't other ways, but marriage and family changes a person if you do it right, and I think it's hard for people to make some of the same changes in character without experiencing family life. There's something about watching your kids grow and struggle and helping them find their way that makes you more compassionate towards others who are struggling or experiencing heartache. I think it also increases your capacity to take joy in the accomplishments of others and to be happy for them rather than covet their success for yourself. I'm definitely more patient than I would otherwise be. Maybe I'm idealizing it too much. There are plenty of family guys (and women) out there who are selfish and don't grow from it.

Yeah no doubt. Family with kids could be a huge plus for most men. Just seeing cute little kids hollering around lifts up your mood like nothing else. Could also be Test is being suppressed and men are being mellowed out. Nevertheless, good wife and good kids are TRULY THE HIGHEST BLESSING. Wherever their situation is, men should make the most of it. Be single, be in marriage, each is different and each changes you to appreciate different things.

Lot of exaggeration in the OP. Family life is different than single life. I'm shocked.

I still have personal goals that I work towards and so does my wife
We enjoy each other's friends and family - this is a good way to help determine if she is even the right one to marry
Married people spend more time with their family than their friends. Who knew.
Yep I have less discretionary money than when I was single. Again I'm shocked.

If you are going to marry and start a family you damn well better be able to tell your spouse how you really feel. Pretending everything is fine on the surface while resentment and bitterness grow is a great way to sabotage everything all because you or they were afraid to confront something head on.
Here's to swimmin' with bow-legged women.

If that's the way you think, then you'll never find a good woman. You refuse to acknowledge the possibility of anything positive, so you'll never find any positives.

It's like BBMG and being an incel, he refuses to see himself as anything other than an incel, despite having two girlfriends in the past.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

You never know whether a family will work for you until you have one; there is just no way of knowing. Some people are more or less likely to be suited to it, buthavinga family can change you in either direction, so you never really know.

The thing to keep in mind that is unhappy people are the most vocal. The ones who are unhappy with married/family life are the most likely to be talking about it every day, whilst the happy ones are more likely to just be happy living it. They go home after work to be with their families and the ones who go to the bar/pub with the single people are the unhappy ones.

You're never gonna hear the guy who went home to a delicious meal, hugs from his kids, and then some sloppy toppy that night talk about it. That would be weird.

It's like pride, BLM, the women's march etc: people who are happy with their lives don't go on marches. The public faces of these movements are the unhappy people, which gives the public the impression that the groups they purport to represent are unhappy.

Goes both ways too, in turn you treat her right. This should be basic common sense ****.
Few people want to admit how deep feminism has dug its roots into society. Men can listen to their wives and respect their wishes, but at the end of the day it's for us to decide how much and how far. If a woman obeys you, then yes it makes sense to treat her well. Back when God created Eve for Adam out of his rib, it was Adam who gave her a name, not God. Adam alone was responsible for his woman and set the rules and boundaries of what was acceptable for her.

The only real rule God set for Adam and Eve was to stay away from the Tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil. Everything else was up to Adam to decide. As the Bible pointed out that Eve and by extension all women (since Eve is the mother of all living) have a strong desire to their husband and to follow after him and please him, etc. It was only later that women were given more agency in the world.

"Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord." - Ephesians 5:22 ESV

Because mankind has disobeyed God, so too have women disobeyed men. It's all connected. Now you have wicked dykes and feminists who do everything out of rebellion against their fathers, who have agency over them when they don't have a husband. The world is twisted and corrupt. Nowadays, you have women in politics and are even pastors in churches. It's all upside down and shows how far we've fallen as a society.

Thank you for listening to my sermon, lol.

That does not take away from the fact that my rules still stand. Doesn't matter if she calls the cops. My views are immovable. I've been down this road before, brah. She's still out of there and I wouldn't give her chit. The burden of proof of "domestic abuse" is on her, but we do things a little differently in Eastern Europe.
