I'm drinking only like 2x per month nowadays after maybe like 2-3x per week in the past. Has made a big difference in my motivation.

Generally am not as happy now though.

It's funny how everyone considers you a loser if you didn't drink. "I don't trust a man who doesn't drink".

Now those same people are talking about how bad it makes you feel and "Alcohol is poison."

Yeah no ****, you can't control yourself.

Waking up early on a Saturday or Sunday morning and feeling totally rested and energetic because you didn't drink the evening before is a GOAT feeling. The weekend feels so much longer, and the feeling of accomplishment when you've already hit the gym and gotten a bunch done around the house before your neighbors even wake up is great.

I've had 2 nights of drinking this entire year and I feel like a prime specimen of humanity.

Highly recommend quitting drinking completely.

I drank at my grandma's funeral and my friends wedding.

I agree, but drinking is a way to socialize and blow off steam. I've been deep into my work during the last few months as a source of replacement, but it doesn't quite satidfy the social element.

I love drinking beer, love it, one of my true passions. But i also realize that I dont have some sort of super liver and cant maintain the pace at which I like to drink it. I tell myself I can but in reality, I know i cant.

So i went from drinking multiple cases a week to just once or twice a year when I go to vegas.

It wasnt so much a tough thing to do but a boring thing to do. Had to pretty much relearn everything I did before while drinking. I am sort of an artist so all of my artwork was done while drinking so that entire part of my life had to be relearned. Of course I knew I could do it sober, obviously anything you can do drunk you can do sober but its different and not as fun.

Oddly some of the things I thought I had to drink for were actually made harder by drinking, Say cleaning the oven or garage or something like that. Its actually a pretty simple task but i made it harder so I could drink while doing it.

Also seem to get weird memories and regrets of stupid stuff I did years and years ago. Its like this stuff needs to be thought through and recompartmentailized in my brain somehow. Its not even bad stuff, maybe an off color joke or something like that where I might have hurt someones feelings. Still it was in their and needed somehow to be mentally dealt with,

After i do that though it doesnt seem to come back, like it was moved to the right place in the noggin somehow.

Zero drinking is an absolute life hack cheat code. Wish I would have listened in my 20s.

But after degen level alcoholmaxxin was achieved (handle a day) in on day 273 or zero drinking.

For those trying to stop, its basically like when you breakup with your GF.... you have to go NC and not stalk her and it aint easy at first. But eventually after some time of NC you dont even think about her and gets the point that you can see her out in public and say hello or not even acknowledge and walk the other way or see her ruining some other dudes life and just shake your head and be thankful you dodge that bullet.

I’ve picked up my drinking a bit, it’s daily but 2-3 beers, no hard stuff. Used to drink twice a week maybe but it’s been rough lately, and it is an escape sadly.

And "depressant" refers to nervous system activity; it doesn't mean "makes you feel depressed" in a psychological sense (although it can certainly have that psychological effect the following day if you go overboard, and so can stimulants). It's totally plausible that modest alcohol use could have positive effects via stress relief or at least that negative effects could be completely offset by the positive effects of the social experiences it can have a tendency to encourage. Everyone can evaluate that for themselves. Surely there is some reason other than degeneracy that humans (and some other animals) have been consuming alcohol for many thousands of years.

If you can't control yourself or it's obviously compromising your health/wellness, then stop.

I only drink like once a month, and honestly the high wears off after like 40 min. Then you just feel sloppy.
