It was in reference to being a “doctor without Borders” and going to a third world country to treat people with TB. Instead of TB (where you said you’d just wear a respirator) what if it was covid

Give me a break, everybsingle time I had to babysit a prisoner at the hospital, it was like a ghost town. In fact, the doctor would usually clear them within an hr, because he had that much free time on his hands.

Also, if it was so crazy, why were nurses being furloughed? How did the ones that remained have the time to make dancing tik tok videos?

I honestly do not have an issue with masks in hospitals.

I am not talking family doctors offices. I am talking hospitals. And this has nothing to do with covid.

So many people go into the hospital for one thing, and end up dying from something like pneumonia. Just tons and tons of germs flying around these places. And if you are staying in the hospital? You have something serious happening. This is not a normal cold or flu or sprained ankle thing. You have issues.

If wearing a mask could save even a few of those lives, and trust me I know they are almost useless....then I am OK with it.

Anywhere else? No.

Also this has nothing to do with masks....but I would add that there is a pretty serious cold/flu going around already. And we are only in Sept. My wife and I have had it for 2 weeks and a lot of people I know and see on social media do as well.

Very strange for so early in the flu season year.

Well.....yeah. I say this because have you ever been in a hospital admissions space? So many illegals and decrepit people with who knows what illness flowing through their bodies. It is disgusting.

Honestly I have been to the hospital once in my life for getting my tonsils taken out. I have been to a doctors office maybe a grand total of 5 times in my life. I have been to an orthopedist once.

I walked into a hospital admissions office here in S Cal a few years ago to get a shoulder x ray. Saw the people there. Walked right out.

I am over 45 years old.

I avoid doctors and hospitals if at all possible. The only reason I went to the doctors was when I had pneumonia in my 20s, and the only reason I went to the ortho was to get an MRI on my shoulder, neck, and elbow. Turns out I have a right shoulder completely shot, a right elbow with a chip the size of a quarter in it, and a disc in my neck bulging out about a half an inch

They want to do surgery on all 3.

I said no.

I just know from visiting people in the hospital how germ infested it is. Many people over the age of 70 go in there?

They never come out. A mask in that situation is not that much of a hindrance.

You can apply that to almost any public space. The subway, an airplane, a concert, a packed movie theater, etc.

Depends on the facility.

Walk-in clinics and General Acute Care hospitals (which is most likely where you were stationed) did not have covid patients because they didnt have the capacity, staff or resources (ventilators) to take care of them thats why the staff had time to goof off making "tik toks" Any covid patient they received were immediately transferred.

On the other hand, if you were where I was working (Trauma Center) it was a chit-show. Luckily those furloughed nurses were eager to work and they helped out in the larger hospitals.

Regardless, it was mismanaged so badly I left the hospital setting. I work in biotech now (ironically auditing the manufacturing process of the Pfizer covid vaccine).

The reality that the masks do little to nothing hasn't been made clear to Democrats apparently. Sure people in the middle and on the right share the facts, but they don't get read by Democrats. It would be refreshing if Dems were made aware that the average American has already been infected 3 times already and since Omicron most of the infections are completely asymptomatic. Not so scary when those realities are known, but don't expect the Pfizer sponsored mass media to report it.

During the winter months when its flu (and now covid ) season, yeah. It should have been in place for healthcare facilities decades ago, We were already headed in that direction, but the pandemic hastened the protocol.

There are people in the hospital that are immune compromised, old as hell, super young and highly susceptible, On immune suppression drugs (because they've had an organ transplant) and your angry that you can't walk in off the street and put their lives in danger? Nosocomial infections (a hospital acquired illness) kills more patients than the illnesses they come in for.

Even if a mask isn't a 100% preventative measure its better than nothing at all.

While we're at it, why not seal their room? Prohibit visitors from entering the room. Only one patient per room. Have the nurse wear a PPE kit....

I was jumping back and forth between Los Angeles General Medical Center and Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego so they are of comparable size.

I vaguely remember saying that. I may have said it before the vaccines were rolled out. Whether or not you believe the vaccines work, they still helped mitigate an event mimicking the Spanish flu. We can actually thank trump for that👍🏾

How are you going to compare the Spanish Flu to COVID? Pick up a history book, look at the number of deaths and the world's population at that time.

no, because enough people are vaccinated that it won't become a pandemic to the level is did in 2020.
