Wow just one the news that a poll shows that 50% of americans

Do not want their kids playing tackle football because of the aggression

Lol

What is happening to this country.. you have am agenda of laws being passed letting men dress up like women and play on women sports, men being allowed to dress up as women and use women's restrooms, laws being passed where parents can let their kids take hormones to try and turn from.male to female..

Now little bull chit like this.

I'm not a conspiracy theory person by nature but it really makes you pause and think their is an agenda some where to destroy the United States from within..

Why is it other countries especially countries surrounded by WAR ZONES are considered a paradise and on the rise while everything from our infrastructure to the morals and ethics being taught in our society today is pure chit....

It's no wonder other counties make fun of us now we don't even have the military advantage anymore..

Why would anyone want their kid to suffer TBI? It's a stupid sport even among stupid sports.

ALS, thats why. No one wants their kid retarded at 35.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (a-my-o-TROE-fik LAT-ur-ul skluh-ROE-sis), known as ALS, is a nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. ALS causes loss of muscle control. The disease gets worse over time.

ALS is often called Lou Gehrig's disease after the baseball player who was diagnosed with it. The exact cause of the disease is still not known. A small number of cases are inherited.

American commercial ball has become cringe in my eyes. I used to be a die hard for the home team. Being a high school or college football Chad would be goat but are the risks really worth the reward? There’s plenty of other ways for my sons to slay when they get to that age

And the other 50% probably want their kids in. Weird poll.

I don't want my kids doing football because it's high likelihood of injury for virtually no upside. (Inb4 they could go pro - you know how many parents start their kids at like 2 wanting them to go pro?)

They're definitely going to be in Muay Thai though.

Coach doesn't know what he is doing and should not be allowed to coach. If you don't know enough to keep those you are teaching safe then you have no business coaching any sport.

The brain /head is not fully developed at that age. No legit boxing coach allows kids to spar.

Headgear is not meant to Cushin blows like most people think. Head gear is meant to be worn while you are training/sparring to prevent cuts. Because if you have a fight scheduled and you get cut in sparring your fight is canceled

yeah I looked up some of the ex NFL players that won't let their kids play: Warner, Farve, Bart Scott, Troy Aikmen, Adrian Peterson, and Drew Brees were the recent big names

Looks like you all have got this.

OP people are more aware that head bangs are not something to mess about with. Dr. Amen even warns against soccer players using their heads to smash a soccer ball.

He says the brain is the consistency of soft butter, which makes since as it is mainly made of fat. So an orb of soft butter floating in a small amount of fluid inside a hard bowl...doesn't take to hard of an impact to flatten that butter ball. He show scans showing brains with what appears to be a flattened frontal lobe and one thing he has seen a connection to is soccer.

That's a good plan rollerball I plan to start my son training as well when he gets a bit older he just turned 3

I'd just keep it training and teaching hln technique . For now. Build that foundation for him to build on later when he can start sparring.

Also and don't over look the importance the vital importance of teaching him when and where it is appropriate to use what you are teaching him. That is of the utmost importance

You don't want your son I'm sure no more than I want my son to be a bully. I want my son to bully the bullies when and if he ever has to. Hoping such a situation never arises but my son will always be one of the good guys and that foundation has to be built and teachings instilled very early in life.

"As noted, studies have strongly linked brain injury from concussions and repetitive head injuries. This latest study suggests some cases of ALS may also be caused by brain trauma."

More reading:

https://karger.com/ned/article/55/1/...al-Sclerosis-A

We found that head injury was associated with an increased risk of ALS (OR = 1.38, 95% CI: 1.20–1.60) and the association was slightly stronger concerning severe head injury and ALS risk (OR = 1.69, 95% CI: 1.27–2.23).

Anecdotal but there is, as you poster, no conclusive connection between ALS and head trauma. Else shouldn’t we be seeing a huge shift of new cases or ALS associated with high impact sports?
Sounds like you're a solid candidate to test the theory further, fella. Get to it.
