Not sure. Mine's been cracked in multiple places for almost a decade. I always thought that was a fix it ticket type thing.

In my area if you get a ticket and get it fixed within a period of time they will void the ticket.

They are considered a safety issue. Cracked windshields are known to spread, possibly burst, cause more damage and get in the way of your vision. Not sure where you're from but here it's covered under your comprehensive coverage and no deductible applies. There are mobile services that will come anywhere you're at to fix them. Get it fixed and you're good to go.

I could fix it but the truck is a hunting truck and pretty banged up. Gonna sell it soon anyways, runs and drives well and is a beast. So... Still not gonna fix it. They don't use salt here on the roads for snow. just rock and sand which is why they break in the first place. Driving down the interstate and a car kicks up a fuking rock into your window that the government puts on the roads. Actually it was a department of transportation snowplow that broke my window in the first place. Its a scam.

What's wrong with you guys itt talking about driving around with cracked windshields? Do you have no insurance, or strictly liability insurance or something? I got a cracked windshield from a road construction pebble or something (didn't notice until the crack spread halfway across the windshield overnight), and my insurance was more than happy to cover it. My insurance literally just asked me where I wanted to take it, and they had all the claim work done for me, all I had to do was go to the shop the next day. Didn't even get any kind of bill, and no insurance deductable, either.

Strictly liability crew. My insurance doesn't cover it. The car has 230k miles. 🤷‍♂️

I didn't know that and will look into it. You can easily go through 3+ windshields a year in my state. I don't believe they can burst though. Seriously doubt that.... I've seen windows break from chit and they just cave in lol. Its safety glass. But that's from something large hitting it, not driving around.

In our bucket trucks it’s best not to address a broken windshield . If the DOT pulls you over ,he’ll usually give you a one time warning and a time line to get it fixed . But if you have a good windshield,he’ll always look for something else and nitpick the tiniest little thing imaginable

Here's one most people don't know: You're supposed to have your lights on any time the sun isn't out, including cloudy days.

Most people think it's only when it's "dark" out but that isn't true.

We can be ticketed for having our previous years paper work in our vehicle. I used to have a bad habit of renewing my insurance,and just piling up the new papers on the old ones in my centre console.
