Not a bad choice. Better than a Tim Scott if he’s going that angle. Dr. Carson has cabinet level experience and is a bright man, obviously. Fully capable of serving if needed, not a traitor, not a Neocon, not beholden to donors. Only downside is he’s not an inspiring speaker, but I’d be happy with it. Actually would be a really solid pick for a general election campaign.

Not watching but pleasantly surprised to hear. Newsom is the Democrat’s ace in the hole in case Biden doesn’t/can’t run. If he’s getting crushed by Ron in a debate with basically zero stakes, it doesn’t fare well for his ability to perform on the national stage. In other words, even if they sneak this slick talking guy in, Trump would probably still win.

Didn’t watch but I really don’t get this forums obsession with how Newsome would be some shoe in lock for president someday, let alone them giving Brandon the boot in favor of him. Did you guys only see pictures of him and think he looked the part or something? People were also thinking this debate was an easy lock for him

He’s really not charismatic whatsoever and comes off as the biggest slimeball stereotypical coastal elite. He wins big in California because….it’s California. In a presidential election he’d run up big numbers in coastal cities, but he’d struggle pretty badly in the rust belt. Senile Brandon is absolutely a better national candidate for the Dems than Newsome is.

It has more to do with that there aren't very many potential candidates to choose from. Biden is not looking great. In fact, he is looking pretty awful and they need to wipe the slate clean with someone new. Newsom is probably the best they have.
