I like dogs
I've had dogs
Cats, imo, are just way more convenient
You gotta plan your whole damn day around a dog unless you have a fenced in yard and doggy door. I don't know how apartmentcels do it.
Cats you can just leave some food and water for, and they just chit in their box and relax
How do you people do it? Dogs are such needy animals.
My personality is definitely more cat. We hang out, talk for a bit, then go our seperate ways.

I’ll admit I’m biased because I’m allergic, but to me they’re disgusting creatures more akin to a wild animal, while dogs are truly man’s best friend. They’re needier because they want to interact with us. They serve a purpose in guarding our homes, warning us of outside danger, working and providing emotional support through a mutual bond.
Cats are just lazy entitled phucks. They don’t work for anything. They don’t contribute anything to a family household. All they do is consume, scratch up furniture and chit in the house. Which, by the way, litter boxes are the filthiest fuking things. I would never own a cat for that reason alone. I have family members who owned cats and you’d find clumps of liter and tracks all over their carpet. The cat was pissing and chitting in the box, walking all over their waste and tracking it throughout the house. At least dogs have the courtesy and intelligence to do their business outside.
Owning a cat is like having a gigantic rat crawling around your home.

As a guy with a dog, I think about this all the time srs

Cats are pretty low maintenance-if you have a cat-flap you don't even bother having to let them in & out. They don't sit there barking all day annoying you/the neighbours, they don't need constant attention/affirmation etc.

Yeah it takes alot of effort but it's all worth it because unconditional love.
I take my dog on a good walk once per day minimum but my dog is weird and doesn't like going far away from the house. He's scared of like everything. I have a fenced in back yard so he goes out there and runs around whenever he wants.
So it's kind of nice in a sense that he's low effort, but sucks cause he's not adventurous so I don't take him on mountain hikes and stuff like I did with my old dog. He would rather be in the back yard chewing sticks otherwise he just gets stressed out.

We are collecting a puppy on sunday. On any given day, one of us is WFH, the puppy will have a 2 year old kid to grow up with and 40 acres to run around on.

Adult dogs are pretty low maintenance, they’re good at controlling their bathroom needs especially if you have a decent routine
Walks and dog park visits are good ways to get fresh air, bit of cardio, socializing and meeting neighbours — walking dogs was the only reason we met neighbours in the last spot

I agree 100% Opie, I love dogs, but I really don't see myself getting a dog anytime soon, especially since we plan on minimum 2 week family vacations out of the country once per year. As much as I'd like a dog, that would make it nearly impossible to do .

I find people who have a lot of dogs like the drunken mongoloid next door or my buddy are typically low life’s . Both have three dogs , and no life whatsoever.
I’m ok with one maybe ,but in my case I never know if I’ll find another job and have to work out of town

I love my dog and we're bonded really well but she's a tremendous amount of work. You need to absolutely weave the dog into your lifestyle. If you're more of a laid back, hands off 'cat' person, then there's nothing wrong with getting a cat if you want a companion animal. I also have a cat and he doesn't do schit. He just sits around all day being fat. I can literally leave for days and he wouldn't care because he schits in a sandbox and has an automatic feeder.

Last 2 cats we had were bengal cats, (both azz holes) they would shoot diarrhea chits all over the walls, wrecked our window blinds, one also killed my wife’s Persian cat.
Wife had to stop me from killing it when I caught it wall chitting. Thing flipped out, scratched, bit, and chit all over me when I grabbed it.
So I’m standing there, with my blood and the cat’s diarrhea dripping down my arms. Had it’s neck in one hand, grabbed it’s head with the other, with the intention of pulling it off. Wife panicked grabbed my wrists begging me not to kill it.
Gave her a time frame (I forget how long) on when both had to be gone.
Our vet contacted someone who took both of them soon after.
I did have a cool cat before them for 18 yrs though. He was just a shelter cat. If I could have guarantee that a cat would be like him. I’d be ok with it. But after the 2 bengals and the Persian that we had after him. I think I’m done with cats.
