Anybody put together a bug out bag? (srs)
Or any kind of emergency bag.
A natural disaster where your power goes out for 3 days is something more likely to happen and prepare for. In Texas we had the freeze that our infrastructure wasn’t ready for that took out our power for a week. Back in 2021 I was not prepared for it. I was the type of person that thought I would wing it as I go, which is just not practical. I remember even having to get in my car and let it run many different times just to charge my phone and enjoy a bit of warmth. now I have a power bank that will charge my phone from 0 to 100% 8 times, as well as a power station that can do it 57 times and run every appliance.
It’s good to have 2 weeks of water on hand and food storage. You could buy 6 5 gallon jugs of water at the grocery store for peace of mind. Mountain house is a good brand that makes freeze dried meals that actually taste amazing and last for 25 years stored (chili Mac is incredible). They’ll run sales and it’s worth looking into and getting their 10 cans on sale. You can go on Amazon and buy a single pouch to test out. They are pretty good AF especially considering a 25 year shelf life. You can also get canned foods and a few giant peanut butter tubs at the store. Just get something that you actually like so you can eat it before it is time to expire and swap out.
I did a lot of research and got a backpack to fill with stuff. Never know when a major emergency can happen. Still a work in progress. The backpack is still light and can swap/add some items. What am i missing?
I can give direct links to these items and other recommendations to anyone who asks.

if you ever needed you're just extending a miserable existence a little bit. If you stockpile a good amount of stuff you will quickly be targeted by raiders/street gangs of survivors who may keep you alive awhile for meat

You could probably use more food. Not too sure what the water pouches look like, but I suggest a reusable water bottle too. You can always keep hot water in it and put it in your sleeping bag for warmth, at least.

Bugging out is a stupid idea, a simple college football game causes so much traffic if something happens, you're stuck. Now a Go bag isn't a bad idea but "bugging in" will keep you alive a lot longer.

A compact water container is something ive been looking into as you mentioned. Something that i could even put on the stove and heat water in for multipurpose.
