Yet has been found guilty of doing the same. Overvaluing his penthouse by 829%.
https://nypost.com/2024/03/27/real-e...c-home-by-829/
Typical libtard MO. Persecute Trump over the same things they do, and think their own wrongdoing won't be found out.
When will libs learn that Trump is cursed? If you bash him, you end up in your own deep chit

But it didn’t take long for internet sleuths to look into Stewart’s own property history, which shows his New York City penthouse sold for 829% more than its assessed value, records confirmed by The Post reveal.
The NY Post is fake news.

Not familiar with this beyond a cursory knowledge (Trump and especially the chit w/ Stewart). On face value, seems like pure bullchit and singling Trump out for something a lot of people do -- and very punitively at that.
Although, my knowledge is no further than occasional headline or post someone makes here, there might be more nuance to this. Trump going beyond the pale into very shady territory getting a loan, somehow. I don't know. I wouldn't put it entirely past him. At the same time, the loan was repaid in full? The bank/loanee is not a victim?
I'd be interested in hearing both sides, although overly biased or 'meme-based' information isn't something that interests me too much.
Can anyone articulate any of the details that justify this harsh fine?
With Stewart... meh, he has writers. Unless he personally wrote the joke or rant about Trump, I don't know. These guys are talking heads, they 'are themselves' but at the same time, it's not that far away from acting out a part.
If he complained about Trump and has done something similar, he probably should have opted to have someone else (I assume) read the joke or do the rant about it, but at the same time -- he's playing a character. A character called John Stewart who talks about politics and from what I remember presents it from a left-wing viewpoint.
If you can't your opinion about the NY Post is irrelevant and distraction, something that does nothing to further a legitimate discussion.

And would you agree that a bank is allowed to make a loan off its own assessment of true value given things like market value and if it’s satisfied with the loan and the loan is repaid no fraud was committed?

The NY Post is fake news.
In 2014, Stewart sold his 6,280-square-foot Tribeca duplex to financier Parag Pande for $17.5 million.
The property’s asking price at that time is not available in listing records.
But according to 2013-2014 assessor records obtained by The Post, the property had the estimated market-value at only $1.882 million
The actual assessor valuation was even lower, at $847,174.
Records also show that Stewart paid significantly lower property taxes, which were calculated based on that assessor valuation price — precisely what he called Trump out for doing in his Monday monologue.

We were discussing that relevance with the specific information you quoted -- which it now looks like the information they presented was factual, you just thought you would chime in they have in the past (I presume) been dishonest?
As opposed to who? What publication is without err? How is that even relevant? You quoted something, then below it immediately noted they were fake, as if that information was a lie. I'm seeing now: It was not a lie, it was truthful and you were misrepresenting things, which is a sign of a weak argument and someone of lacking morality, willing to knowingly deceive.
Very dishonest of you Pat, if you can not argue without resorting to deception, you probably do not have a good argument.
Were I to use your logic, now whenever you post anything I could just chime in, "NYPat is fake news". Would that be fair or relevant? What if you were telling the truth or had a good argument? Shouldn't we focus on the specific facts at hand?

While that's pretty good, I don't know how long he had that house. I sold a house in 2021 and doubled the value, had bought it in 2011. Pick the right neighborhood, one with growth potential and sell at the right time and you make money. In fact, real estate is always a good long term investment.
Moreover, and again I haven't read it, but he just sold a property, he wasn't using it as collateral on another loan?
Article sounds like it might have been misleading, but having not read it, hard for me to go All In on that assessment. Much better argument here though, Pat.

Please tell me you Trump lovers aren't serious with this.
This was a private transaction between individuals vs Trump defrauding the bank and state. It's not even conceivably in the same ballpark unless you're either not bright or simply have your head up Trump's rear.
And btw boyos, when the penthouse sold, the new owner paid taxes on the NEW AMOUNT that he paid. Just like it always works.
You guys crack me up...SMH

In 2014, Stewart sold his 6,280-square-foot Tribeca duplex to financier Parag Pande for $17.5 million.

Pande, who purchased the penthouse from Stewart, then resold the property at a nearly 26% loss, according to the Real Deal — at just over $13 million — in 2021.

As to Stewart, he comes off as a little hypocritical. I still conclude his writers should have avoided this one or he should have nudged them and said, "nah" or just had an intern come out and pretend to get outraged over it, instead of himself.
Why did this Pande by it so high, I wonder? Even losing money 11 years later (when the market was red hot, at least down here in Texas). Wonder if something weird was going on there.

Yeah, Pat seems like his facts are mixed up, unfortunately it might be because he has what appears to be an inability to read.
