2017 Lincoln continental
257k miles

Oil was low and needed changing and engine locked

Bought it for $3500 9 months ago
Did breaks which was $400
Did water pump which was $800
Registration was $625

Total spent $5325 over 9 months,

Made some money off of it cuz drove Uber

A place that buys cars is offering me $2k for it

It has some other problems such as cosmetic damages cuz of previous owners accidents and bumper left needs to be tightened or replaced

Has check engine light which is catalytic converter repair which cost $2k

Engine will prolly cost $2-3k+ if not more

It’s 3.7L

Should I just sell it for $2k?

Engine locked due to not changing oil and low oil which seems like my fault
I don't check my CP, IDC about reps/negs

The first thing you phucked up on was buying an American car with 250K miles

LMAO

But yeah just sell it, not worth the hassle of doing all those repairs. You're at a net loss no matter what.

Well net loss is $3k but surely I have to pay to drive a car right which is $369 a month which is the average car payment anyways I guess ur saying that $369 could have gone to a diff car?

On the other hand I made money from Uber at least $2k-$3k if not more so is it really net loss

You paid way too much for that pos. From the sounds of it the engine is done for. You’ve put way too much into that thing srs. For 5k you can get some really decent cars.

Did you srsly nuke your engine from not servicing it? Breh…

Anyway your car is scrap now and 2k is generous, a metal plant buying it by weight would prolly give you 500

You ain’t getting a new engine for 2-3k unless you pulling one from a junk yard and dropping it in yourself

If you can get access to an engine crane (hell you can buy one for like 300 bucks) it’s actually a pretty easy job

Just find one that’s in the car so you can hook a pressure guage into the spark plug holes and crank it to check compression

Also put a socket in the crank and rotate it to feel by hand if any tight spots

I don't know much about vehicles, but if I was buying something second hand I would want it to last about a year and when sh!t starts going on it just get rid of it.

You dun goofed by sinking 5k into a hunk of crap, buying second hand sh!t wil just constantly keep going on it, like I said get something decent second hand that "should" last a year or so and then get rid of it when things start to go, otherwise just buy new.

Imo definitely not.
Once you start using a vehicle for financial gain what you dump it for isn’t as important as long as the income offsets it. You should have been writing off the mileage for taxes too.
Potentially depreciation as well granted I’m not 100% sure you can do depreciation and mileage.

We have a travel trailer we rent out and they are notorious for tanking in value, but renting it out I’ll offset that while still potentially being able to take my family out in it.
Been debating on picking up a second tbh.

250k lincoln

yes you're going to need blinker fluid and probably a new tranny (srs)

an 05 camry with less miles is a better deal than a 2017 ford with 250K LOL

I did write off everything when I did my taxes but my overall for Uber was still a loss

Def did write the milage

But 2-3k I made then u subtract gas and tax from it so it’s little profit still

Let’s hope I can still get $2k for this car

I’m thinking of getting a 2019 Lincoln MKT next because it works for Uber black as well.

It’s going for $17k for 106k Miles

Another for 101.4k for $18k

There’s another for $10k with 198k miles

Old cars suck because not only are you dealing with normal wear and tear like brake pads, you're also dealing with things breaking due to sheer limited life expectancy.

**** that breaks after a few thousand miles plus **** that breaks after 20 years...

Why change the timing chain at all

I’ve had double chains on 500,000kms with no stretch
