It was known that Peter Mandelson and Morgan McSweeney spoke regularly, and there are plenty of conversations between the two in the latest files. One, for example, is about the process of getting a custom red ministerial-style box for Donald Trump as a present for the president on his state visit last year. Mandelson shared his frustration at a lack of progress with McSweeney 28 August 2025 - less than a month before Trump arrived in the UK.

U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach and his senior adviser Mike Brown, both political appointees, have been pushing staff at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing for prototypes of a $250 bill with Trump’s name and face on it, The Washington Post reports. U.S. law doesn’t allow for living people to be placed on bills, and employees were alarmed enough to anonymously speak to the Post.Putting pictures of living people on American currency has been illegal since 1866, and a bill to allow Trump’s face on a $250 bill was introduced last year but has stalled in Congress.
The bureau’s printing director, Patricia Solimene, was reassigned from her position after she tried to explain the legal and procedural hurdles to producing the Trump money, saying it would take years. Trump’s second term in office has been a vanity project, as he has plastered his face and name on federal buildings and the U.S. passport. He has also sought to build a massive ballroom at the White House, a gigantic arch in Washington, D.C., and a golf course near the Potomac. He’s even trying to name an entire class of battleships after himself. Will he get his own money too?

Asian UK Political Candidate Hates Indians-Rapey Grins
A Green Party candidate standing in an upcoming London by-election has apologised after referring to Indian men having “rapey grins” in a post on social media.Esther Lie is standing in the Crofton Park ward by-election, the seat on Lewisham council left vacant by Liam Shrivastava who became the Green mayor of the borough on May 7.In a now-deleted tweet, she wrote: “Almost fancied the Indian guys at the swimming pool yesterday. Despite their thick prickly torsos and rapey grins.”
Labour accused the Green Party of repeatedly selecting “candidates with racist views” and vetting failures. In a statement, Ms Lie said: “This tweet was made 13 years ago, in response to a particular event that had happened to me whilst backpacking as a young person - and wasn't ever meant for public consumption. “Hence why I deleted it several years ago. It reflects the lack of constructive spaces for people facing sexual assault at the time. I think it is clearly inappropriate and I apologise.”
