I go to national parks in the winter to avoid this crap. Yosemite was dead when I went in February of last year. The tunnel view had like two cars in the parking area. I sat in that lot for 20 minutes and had no one in my way.

kinda reminds me of a couple summers ago I went up in the mountain of NC and did a few trail hikes to see some water falls etc ...

literally every trail had a lot of people on it and the places you could get to or in the water was filled with people ... kinda blew my mind out in the middle of no where

and when I say people I mean Indians dead fukn srs, no cap

din't hiking and going to national parks used to be kinda a niche thing? I don't remember them ever really being a destination...maybe a sidetrip though.

Yep.

Haven't been to Yosemite, but I'd like to. Been to Yellowstone a bunch and every pullout is packed now. It's not so bad if you are willing to get into the backcountry but it's getting to where you have to go pretty deep to really get away from people. Between the people and the regulations I don't usually backpack in national parks. I'm hitting the White Clouds with my boys next month. Should be a great trip.

Correct. I think the winter time has unique views in and of themselves. You may not be able to hike all the trails, but the views are still insanely pretty and the crowd levels are fantastic. I drove right through the gate at the Grand Canyon. Zion's parking lots had plenty of spaces etc. I wasn't able to do King's Canyon when I did Sequoia because of the snow, but I still got to see General Sherman.

Winter used to be my favorite time to visit Yellowstone. We'd rent snowmobiles in West Yellowstone and then explore the park on them. A lot of the hiking trails were closed. There was some snowshoeing and cross country skiing but we just did the board walks in winter. We'd always see a ton of animals because the snow pushed them down to the lower elevations and it was less busy. Pretty cold though. I remember trips where it was 20 below in the morning. You can still do that type of trip but now, you have to get selected in a draw to be able to go in on snowmobiles without a guide so it's a lot tougher.

Wtf is even the point of visiting a national park if there's people everywhere. Just go to Target or the mall lol

I went to Yellowstone a couple summers ago and the only crowded place was Old Faithful, a massive tourist trap. Other than that the park was peaceful and you didn't see that many tards around.

Idk what the hell is going on in that video, but I'd just leave if I saw that shit

I thought the whole point of going to the wilderness was to get away from people. Not be grouped up like a herd. No different than walking in Disney World tbh.
