Cool, pretty similar to how i eat. I have been at the high end of my calories for the past few days due to soreness.

Why does everyone say "low fat", you do know fat is required for hormonal balance and at your weight you need about 65-75g of it.

To the OP, i lift because I enjoy it and it happens to make me look good as a bonus. The bonus just happens to attract sl00ts

Well that's low fat to me. But you're absolutely right! Fat is essential.

Ok fair enough, I usually eat lean meats so fat is hard for me to get eating at about 92g and I am more conscious about it (penut butter / eggs help a lot)

I started lifting over a year and a half ago because I was sick of boxing and needed something different to keep my interest and help me stay in shape. Lifting just became the most obvious choice since it's pretty easy compared to everything else. And since I mostly focus on strength training I found that it's pretty fun. That and I always wanted to put on some size when I got older. Being skinny with abs works when you're younger, but once you get older having a more masculine physique is generally a better look.

All you really need. Just lol @ increasing your cancer risk by bulking on massive amounts of food + meat. Stay lean as fuk and don't worry about strength, it's useless in today's world and has been for centuries

Dude, you didn't get laid because you didn't go out and engage in debauchery, as that is when most "getting laid" circumstances occur (at least for ONS).

PEOPLE: don't live with your life with black and white absolutes. You can lift, not destroy your body, and go out and have fun. Why not have it all?

I agree with OP with most of his points.
Bodybuilding however is not pointless.
I started lifting to lower the fat (I was a heavy kid my entire life) and attract woman.

I however came to love working out and do it for me now. It is a stress reliever.
It has taught me discipline.
It has made me choose a healthier life style.
I have made a bunch of friends at the gym.

However there are times when the "bodybuilding midset" has affected me.
I have been obsessed with macros.
There are weekends I wont go out
Holidays can be a little rough with the food and drinks.
I sometimes debate whether to have that cheeseburger or not.

I use to be really bad, but as I grew I realized how to balance all of it.
Bodybuilding and having a social life can be done.

I see too many people who are not athletes, bodybuilders, strongman etc. miss out on stuff because they are too worried about there gains or physique.

That is the downside to it.

As several other people have said, I'm somewhat aesthetic. I just enjoy going to the gym.

Counting macros is really not that hard, I also find meal prepping extremely gratifying. (Ocd I guess)

Sorry op I cannot relate.

I can only do light calisthenics and cardio due to nerve impingement in my shoulder, I was thinking of taking up strength training or bodybuilding after it's healed.

From what I've seen though...

Strength training inevitably leads to injuries (been there done that with martial arts/rugby).

Bodybuilding leads to practically basing a large chunk of you life around your appearance, macros, and the gym.

Some people love the obsession and culture (all the more to them) around lifting, but it doesn't look too appealing to me.

I'll probably just stick with calisthenics, low intensity high volume lifting, and HIIT for health long term.

The misc brings the lulz though.

You are right in a way, people become obsessed with lifting and if for once illness hits you all your gains are gone and you can end up being worse then before. Also we have no idea what kind of permanent problems lifting can cause to our body.

Not only that but due to lifting we tend to ignore most of other important things in life.

Even if you are skinny you can fix things by eating well, even if you are fat you can fix things by fixing your diet. Seriously exercise isn't really required and in most cases is worse for body then bringing anything good.
