This is more to do with culture than religion. Yes, he preferred his sons and daughters to marry the same ethnicity as himself and my mum. But he wasn't strict on that. I have cousins who are in inter-racial relationships.

Yes, my father wanted all of us to marry Muslims. My brothers and my sisters are married to Muslims.

Not necessarily.

The guys I'm talking about are middle class and not particularly religious. The girls are the ones who are forced to wear a hijab at home and then take it off as soon as they're on campus.

I get what you're saying but it's not always true.
