I would do a fresh windows install and make sure that the ram settings are properly tuned in the bios. That is an area where a lot of prebuilts fail massively.
Still at $1300 for a 7700x 4070 combo you should walk away feeling pretty good about it.

1300 for a 7700x and 4070 ain't bad at all if it's a PC for a kid
My parents got me a dell pre built with a Radeon 9800 pro back when I was like 13 or so and it turned me into the pro gaymer I am today. Started on delta force 2 and delta force land warrior

Rocking a 7600x with a 3070. I will say the 3070 now requires some tuning at 1440p to give an optimal set up.

Buddy of mine having some pc issues
I think his gpu is dying? He said this happens shortly after booting up and the max resolution in his gpu options is super low.
He said also tho he would randomly have issues with windows and his Taskbar and other chit not loading right

It's not a monitor thing he tried his monitor on a different pc

Remember anytime you are buying something in finance someone else is selling. Even professional investors don't regularly out earn the index. The odds of you as a random making good decisions is relatively low.
As for Dave Ramsey basics... DO learn beyond that. DR is like the alcoholics anonymous of debt. If you lack discipline he is a great place to start. Money Guy show is more financially sound.

Thinking about getting my first gaming pc.
https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/gami...-cs-9050047-na
Thinking about going all out and getting something like this.
My question is how long will this basically be future proofed for? And is basically just plug and play? Because I don’t know chit about computers.
They have a $2600 model with the i7 and 4080. Will the more expensive model be a noticeable upgrade?
And yes I’m too retarded to build myself or pay someone locally to build me one.

I also really don't like getting prebuilt PCs as they spend money in the wrong places.
IBuypower has a pretty solid set up for custom PCs.... I would go that route if you don't want to build your own.
For gaming the i9 is a waste. The R7 and i7/i5 zone is where it is at. If you can wait 2 weeks I would get the 14600k/14700k pending review by gamers nexus.
GPU wise you are not in a good place product life cycle wise. I would not pay the super high premium for a 4090 GPU. Get either a 4080 or a 7900xtx. Plan on upgrading in 3 years. (Simple drop in upgrade).
You will want a 1 TB ssd and then independently buy a 2 tb one on your own. Builders rip you off here. Super easy installation.
You wanting 4k or 1440p?

As for 4k or 1440p idk really. I'm not to savvy in what that all means. But I might be off, but 4k is really pretty, and 1440p would be what you want for fast twitch competitive shooters correct? I'd probably get a 1440p monitor that's 240hz, but I also have a LG CX tv I guess I could hook it up to and play in 4k.
So I'd probably do both.
In the brief time I did research some YouTube videos said the 4090 pulled a lot of CPU power so the i9 performed much better? Is there any truth to that?

1440p is my ideal resolution for computer gaming because you can push fps and it looks solid. 4k is more like for RPGs and the like.
As for CPU power this is almost a non-factor in gaming at your resolutions except in a few select cases (unless you go poverty). Even something like a 5600 would not really be noticeable at 1440p/4k.
Still at your budget the 14600/14700 cpu is probably going to be your pick just based on your budget and timing.

Is 4k @ 27 inch a waste? Ordered a gigabyte m27u (4k) and lg gp850 (1440p). Difference is only $100, but considering the prebuilt comp I bought, I think the 4k might be a stretch for some games . great for productivity and content viewing but I guess I'll see which I prefer. Just wanted opinions

Gotta say I've never had too many issues with icue as a software. I've used it for lighting and fan control for ages and even my old corsair wired mouse from like 2015.
But I'll be damned if using this m75 air with icue hasn't been anything but an absolute misery
First issue - icue constantly trying to update itself, and the mouse firmware, and the wireless reciever dongle. For 3 days straight it just kept trying to force me restart my pc or icue to finish installing the firmware update. Then after the restart it wouldn't even recognize the mouse until I unplugged and replugged it. Not even sure what I did to fix it (if anything) but finally it stopped.
Icue does not pair my mouse profile with my lighting/cooling profiles. I have a profile I use that has fans turned off and some on very low. So my pc is silent. When I switch profiles to turn my fans up for gaming, it doesn't remember my mouse dpi settings and puts them back to default. But icue says the dpi is the same... So what's it doing?? It's changing the ****ing cursor speed in windows somehow. Wtf? Lmao I had to go to windows to fix it. But it's ok now, but I think I have to reset the mouse speed in windows anytime I set up a new profile in icue lol.
Now this could be purely coincidence. But ever since installing this mouse and having all the firmware issues, my pc starts up with a pretty significant lag spike as it loads the windows password screen. I haven't had time to narrow it down yet, but I have never had a hang up with my pc since I built it, and now all of sudden I have this massive windows lag on startup the same day I'm prompted to reboot my pc 50x by icue.
I like the actual mouse itself tho. It's got one of the best clicks in the business srs.
Anyways I knew better than to get corsair peripherals but I figured how bad could it be.... Just lol.

I'm thinking I might finally have time to get a build going.
I've had the case, PSU, and GPU already, so now it's just a matter of finding a good deal on the CPU + motherboard, getting the DDR5 RAM, and AIO.
For the motherboard, I'm leaning towards theMSI MPG Z790 Edgethat's going for $299.99 now. It has all of the connections I need, and it's one of the few Z790 boards thatdoesn'thave a PCIE 5.0 m.2 slot and instead five PCIE 4.0 m.2 slots, with the only sacrifice being 1 out of 7 SATA ports. With the sale, it's the same price as theMSI Z790 Tomahawk Max(refresh), but I don't use wifi, so neither this refresh nor the Edge refresh offer anything different.
Unfortunately, nothing in between those and the ultra expensive boards are really going on decent sales, but they don't really seem to offer much more, and I'm just going to be running XMP.
I was looking at theGigabyte Elite Xas well, but a big concern for me is they appear to have a reputation for higher reports of coil whine, and high pitch noises really get to me because I still get occasional bouts of tinnitus from chemo. USB is also weaker with 4x2.0/1.1 at the top, whereas the MSI are all faster 3.2 standard, so less muss and fuss with external storage.
I'm right next to my computer, so I just don't want to risk it, and because the refreshed boards aresonew, there's not enough reports on whether or not they've actually addressed it, and I swear Gigabyte is the only company I've seen with multiple revisions listed across all their products.
They have the Z790 Master on a really good discount at ~$389.99, but it looks like it's riddled with potential coil whine issues, and for whatever god forsaken reason they cut down the SATA to 4 despite the jump in cost in exchange for more USB ports than I have any idea what they could be for, and that's coming from someone who uses a bunch of USB ports.
For RAM, I'm going with 7200mhz, but I'm leaning towards a 24x2 kit over 16x2 because I could really use the extra lift in memory.
Both of these are on the QVL, but the first has better timings and latency.
Teamgroup 7200mhz
Timing 34-42-42-84
CAS Latency 34
Voltage 1.40V
G.Skill 7200mhz
Also in silver
DDR5 7200 (PC5 57600)
Timing 36-46-46-115
CAS Latency 36
Voltage 1.35V
Lastly for the AIO I'm probably going to go with anEK Nucleus 360.
The motherboard is probably the biggest pain in the ass because frankly the Z790 offerings kind of suck for the price point and features, thanks in no part to the chipset's limitations on lanes compared to AM5. Still, the Intel fits my needs better, so oh well, that's the more important part at the end of the day. I just wish they would have cut down the number of dimm slots to just 2 for a larger number of boards because right now you're either spending more on the motherboard than the CPU or stuck with a mini-me ITX form factor, especially since by now both Intel and the AIBs know bloody well that the platform has an advantage with faster RAM.
I was looking at one of their mice, Ironclaw or something like that, but I wound up with the basic bitch Logitech g-whatever that everyone uses. I don't game with mouse and keyboard, just image and 3D editing, so I actually really like how it has the extra weights and additional buttons I can remap as shortcuts.
Edit - Also just a personal anecdote, but my old-ass PC has an NZXT Kraken, and I know that their software gets a notoriously bad rap, but seriously... it just sits there? I've never had a problem with it, actually, and you'd think it would be worse running newer software that updates regularly on old hardware + a locked down Windows 10 version, but nope. Just sits there. Although I don't use it for RGB outside of setting and forgetting the pump color.

My god man
You're flying too close to the sun
That's so awesome lol
My gf still uses my x34 pradator monitor hehe
I would have gotten an oled monitor this year but my tv broke so I got a new Oled tv.
But the good news.... Is my broken LG cx oled is being fixed under warranty. Then it will be relocated to my computer room so I will have a nice fat 65" OLED for my racing sim

I just got my gaming pc and now am already in the rabbit hole of watching the rumors on YouTube about the 5090 smh lol
But that got me thinking. Will the next gen cards even fit in my case? It's a Corsair 4000D. Now I'm kind of worried that I should have opted for the bigger one. lol Or should I be good for years to come with the same case?
The thought of graphics cards getting bigger and bigger never crossed my mind.

The more research I do on the mobo, the more I'm leaning towards something else that is a refresh board made for 14th gen. Contrary to a lot of nay saying, they at leastdoimprove the memory controllers and design layouts, so it's not just a fresh coat of paint or something.
Thez790 Edge Maxis tempting, but at the end of the day it's basically a gussied upTomahawk Maxfor $90 more, although Newegg at least gives you a discount on both with a processor. Like I can't find any concrete differences between the two outside of aesthetics and an extra m.2 slot. Same ram speed compatibility, same PCB layers, and even the main VRMs look the same, just black vs silver.
Asus is overpriced, they're quality seems to be going downhill while they ride on their name, and they don't have the same amount of features or quality for the price. E.g. only 4 sata and... nothing else in return.
Gigabyte... no idea other than reading a lot about coil whine at least prior to theirrefresh. Me and my ocd can't live with how you're paying $2-300 for the damn thing to havethis cringe schitlaser etched into the damn VRM:
Spoiler!
Yeah it's petty as hell, but so am I for $300.
The possibility that theyhaven'tfixed the coil whine has me nervous though because it's still way too early for enough to be out there for people to report on such an issue.
Does anyone know how Asrock is doing these days? I've never used their products either, but I read they were remarkably solid for AM5. It also seems like the refresh boards are actually really solid, especially theNova, and now they don't look like vomit.
The Nova hassixslots for nvme drives, so the 4 sata is actually not all for nought. I think it's literally the only board with that many, and in that price range the only one with an error code and an actual backplate before you're paying silly amounts. I guess their RGB software syncs up with Razer's, and I do have their's because I have a Razer keyboard, so that might not be so bad, either.

Otherwise who knows, maybe they'll just use an external AC wall plug and power brick eventually.
I think theheightmight be a consideration with how thick the GPUs can get because then they can outright block parts of the motherboard, particularly m.2 access.
