Side by side comparison based on what? Paper stats? Who gives a ****? If people bought cars based on that alone, everybody would be driving American cars.


And Supra not being a Toyota is great. Toyota could never make an engine like B58 for a $50k~ car and BMW ergonomics are much better than anything Japan is doing.

Plus Supra looks much better.

Still don't know which one I want more.. supra or z. I've had a 350z for over 10 years now and I plan on driving it till it dies. But when that time comes I hope the Supra or z has a t-top version for sale. Personally I think the Supra is better looking from the outside but the interior of the Z is better. Also depends on the options the Z has to offer. I'd never get a base model car. If there is a nismo version it could help with the looks and performance.
Supra Premium ~55k new
Z Nismo I'm guessing ~50k-55k.
Same price range. Don't know what to do, buy both?

Supra is just a BMW Z4 with a fixed hardtop. I would go for the Z, then again I also got a 350Z.

I think this car is going to rock. A lot of the systems are currently on other models. Such as that 9 speed auto, and the 6 speed manual, and are pretty bulletproof. The 3.0 engine, especially the turbo one had a lot of problems in the begining. I remember the Infiniti side guys griping about the 3.0 because they had issues requiring the whole engine to be replaced most of the time but it seems that has all been worked out and no problems out of the new one's. Of course a 1st year model will have issues but no major one's.

Another thing I'm glad for is that from the top I'm seeing a lot of excitement about performance and fun to drive aspects of the cars while before it seemed that all they cared about was MPG and practicality which turned Nissan into a commuter car that needed a CVT transmission that needed to be changed more than spark plugs in some lame cars. Over the past couple years there has been a huge about face on the whole line.

I agree. 400hp in that little car is no joke. I remember the 300ZX at around 300hp and it was pretty quick.

Gotta disagree with you there homie. The new Supra looks like a BMW Z4 with a fixed hardtop and a boy racer bodykit. The new Z actually looks like a distinctive car for starters and it's got much better looks.

The GTR and LF-A were far more expensive. Same deal with Honda and the NSX. The Japanese make pretty high-end sports cars these days. Also, I would rather pay $50k for a Nissan Z than $50k for a Ford Mustang.

Not sure why folks are saying $50k-$55k, the Z will be $40k base. Most folks aren't buying the Nismo, you'll get a lot of bang for the buck with just the base. JB4 Tunes are already available for the VR30 that can bring you up to 500hp and 500ft/tq. The story will fold out with this car beating a lot of street cars, the Mustang GT, Camaro, and easily dominating the Scat Pack.


The only reason to get the Supra is because of the stronger engine(I think)

It's definitely coming, they are going to do some Nismo and anniversary editions down the line for sure. The yellow paint is kind of a throwback to the original Z for now though.

I'm not sure how I feel about this car. I use to always want a 370z, and I always wanted to learn how to drive stick shift. So I kinda want to get this car and finally learn how to drive stick, but I'm not sure yet. I was hoping the successor to the 370z would look a lot better than this.

The manual will probably be a collector's item one day. I'd say learn manual on a slower car and get used to it before making that jump.

u wot? nah it would be absolutely fine to learn on that car. a 400hp car and a 200hp car drive the same until you gun the throttle. driving a standard is no big deal, just take it easy till you build the muscle memory.

The interior looks dated already. Nissan is lazy af and not putting much effort in the design.

I worked as a tech when the 3.0s were just coming out, we had maybe 10 with injector issues and waiting for parts within 500 miles and 1 had a new long block ordered due to the timing chain snapping within 1k miles, the district manager for nissan was looking at that engine confused to what was happening, pulled the pan off and the chain is hanging down loool

Maybe it's me, but I kinda hate the fact the new Z is like a carbon copy of the 370z. It's like you might as well buy a 370z because they're essentially the same. The VR30 sounds like a good engine though. I'd probably buy the Supra because it feels like a new iteration instead of being more of the same.

Maybe I'm wrong and I hope I'm wrong and the new Z is outstanding

I’m going to test drive the new one, but if I didn’t just payoff my 2018 370Z I would probably get the new one no questions asked.

But I like my 370Z I’ve always been a Z fanboy. I’ll probably just mod my 370Z and drive it into the ground. With proper bolt ons and a tune I can get fairly close to 400HP anyway.
No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

Is the steering wheel design borrowed from Mercedes? Mercedes and Infiniti shared platform before with the GLA / QX30.
