Graduated at 26 in CS during start of Covid

Took 8 years since I switched majors.

Currently work an IT job making 70k a year

My job is really ez don’t even use my brain feel like I’m getting dumber

My friends who Wer in my classes are making 200k a year with the same degree working at Microsoft and Tesla as software engineers. Some are also only 24

Can I get there as well?

I don’t really care about $ as I live very frugally but I feel like I should be making a lot more

And idk if the it experience even helps as I’ve accrued 2 years of it basically

they say comparison is the thief of joy

but if you're 28, earning 70K already puts you in the top 22% of people at your age. you're doing fine. just keep accumulating experience and skills. some people hit their stride early in life, some people later. its okay. we're all gonna make it

hey man I'm 2020 CS grad too. I'm 27 and I'm working a call center job for basically minimum wage. I'm planning on learning some frontend frameworks and trying to land a front end job because I like design. I think it might also be easier to land a frontend gig first. btw how has your apt/posture been?

70K is pretty good esp under 30. You're doing well, learned your job throughout & are ready for more responsibilities with higher pay, whatever they may be. You're at that weird age where you really start to think about things/life/career/etc differently. I completely reset my life, changed careers and moved 1/2 way across the country at 28 due to thoughts like this

#1. Don't compare yourself to ANYONE.
#2. Cost of living needs to be considered when you think about salaries
#3. You need to find what makes you happy and what gives you a sense of accomplishment/feeling of fulfillment

You're still plenty young enough to make positive life changing decisions. Really put some thought into what you want, what it's going to take to get there, put a plan together and get to work.

Dont get stuck in the "my life sucks" "im the victim" "the grass is greener" bullchit........that aint going to solve anybody's problems. Take control of your life and make it what you want or what you need to be happy.

When I was 26 (in 2011) I was making $34k/year, managing a chitty small loan office in Kansas City, with a Bachelors of Science in Finance....I absolutely hated the job and it got to where it was affecting my life outside of work, my relationships and my overall outlook on life. My gf at the time was making $70k/year and all our friends were in that range and I just felt like a complete low life. I knew I needed to make a change and while it wasn't easy and it took some time, I did and I cant imaging what would have happened if I just sat around feeling sorry for myself.

Well if you aren't applying to diff jobs that pay more than why would you complain? You think its just going to fall into your lap? You have to network and improve and apply to better jobs. Work on your resume, grind leetcode, and get applying!!!

Sound like a typical drone that goes through life being told what to do. Do you really want to tell your grandchildren you worked in IT ?
