Until there's any repercussions for this insane level of debt, I tend to agree. Nobody ever seems to do anything about it.

Maybe someone can ELI5 about why anyone should care?

The problem with the deficit is that the repercussions won't come slowly it'll come rapidly when there's a complete changing of the world order and the US dollar is no longer dominant.

That’s quite a bigly number! Giving Hegseth another $200 billion for fancy office chairs, steak, lobster and his alcohol stash will surely fix this?

As Hillary would say, "At this point, what difference does it make?"

I was watching something about it and the reality is the whole world's debt is almost 3X global GDP and it's really hard to tell because a lot of countries aren't even tracking it and some have done "resets" and just acted like it doesn't exist. Most countries don't have anything that secures their money, the US does, so we have to pay interest on money that didn't exist. The fed reserve, a private owned bank, just creates money and charges interest on it. Don't even need to print money, just type it in.

Anyways, in a way, it's already paid, and is paid by you as they devalue our currency.

Maybe Kristi Noem needs another 220 million for a one minute ad that involves her talking while riding a horse? $4000 for makeup? South Park was right again!

I have to agree with that one. Was out of line and she paid for it losing her position...
