I think there is still a pretty good fighting chance. The fact that the democrats have become so unpopular that they have been relegated to the both sides argument is proof.

Imagine your best argument against your opposition is that they are just as bad you.

It's the only argument they have and it couldn't be further from the truth.

Exactly. No condemnation of the democrat corruption thread topic. Just an immediate shift to republicans also bad. They think they are clever.

A thread gets made calling out democrat corruption and rather than focus on corruption at hand they immediately start shifting the blame to also republicans?

Seems weird that they would go to another gas station on the other side of town when they are already at a gas station.

This is the correct assessment of the current situation. The US government is setup to provide two shitty choices, one of which will give you half of what you want, depending on your ideological preference. Both have nonsensical platform positions and hide their scams deep within thousand page bills.

Both parties willingly take up unpopular positions precisely so that the other party has a "common sense" winning issue. Most people just fall into either fighting Dems vs Repubs or they fall into the middle and identify a lesser of two evils based on whatever current candidates have to offer.

None are there to actually improve anything. This democratic republic has been hijacked by people who only seek to expand their own power and wealth rather than serve as stewards of civilization and the common good.

That's a fair point, but it's also weird to keep talking about Democrat corruption while the US is a year and a half deep into Republicans controlling all three branches at the national level and there is corruption and bad policy abound.

I would agree that Democrat corruption needs to be continually called out, specifically at local or state levels where it has festered uncontended. But such discourse should center around certain policies and the ideologies involved and why they are harmful.

Hyper focusing on Democrats and settling for Republicans as a lesser of two evils will NOT usher in meaningful improvement. Eventually people get sick of Republican failings and the pendulum swings back the other way, again. Then Democrats will inevitably fall back into Joe Biden territory and cause another pendulum swing back to the Republicans. It never ends.

I've just seen the "both sides" argument get thrown around way too much to know that it is almost exclusively being used as a deflection tactic away from blatant dem corruption. I think most people have caught onto it as well.

FWIW, I was a libertarian for almost a decade so I have a pretty good sense of when people are being genuine with the "both sides" argument. I see the same people using it, who only seem to say it when it pertains to a certain side. They aren't genuine, nor are they as clever as they think they are.

If it's coming from an ardent Democrat then I'd agree it's disingenuous. Personally I'm disgusted by both parties and the entire system at this point. I loath lobbying, and any time a new ruling or law is made to limit corruption it's only a matter of a decade before people find a way to spin that law to work in favor of their corruption.

Well, this is a great thread with specific examples of things to be angry at democrats for. What are your thoughts on the videos :) I don't think I caught them.

I'm not on facebook and I don't like political stuff in my algorithm so not clicking those.

I won't make a broadstroke and say all Democrats support the policies I'll list as examples, but these are examples of policies that are supported by a good number of Democrat politicians that I find destructive or in the very least negative:

- Encouraging immigration if not open borders (I have no problems with immigration but it shouldn't be incentivized unnaturally and there should be limits)
- Forcing green policies that can't accommodate our energy needs and often have unseen negative environmental effects
- Blanket student load forgiveness and free college; this will just result in a bunch of young people with degrees that won't get them jobs
- Defunding the police - I think police who abuse their power should be held accountable and fired, however defunding will result in worse/less training and less overall cops which results in more crime. Police need better training and oversight, not less.
- Transgender procedures for minors - I don't care what adults want to do with their own bodies, but kids shouldn't be mutilated (which I think is probably rare) and they also shouldn't be injected with hormones when they are minors.
- Hiding information from the parents of students - Regardless if this is a student socially transitioning or other odd social behavior or lesson plans. Parents have a right to know what their children are doing at school and what they are being taught. A child thinking it is the opposite sex is something that should be mentioned to parents as it indicates mental illness. Additionally parents should be able to view lesson plans if they ask the teacher.

I am pretty sure that about 95% of all Democrats would agree with this. But that doesn't get traction online.

There is no money in solutions.

Just going to say this. Modern democratic party is a socialist party and thus, many of the problems with socialism show up where they rule.
