People that vote for him will be primarily coming from the Republivan party so I hope he doesn't make it. Not to mention he supports open borders which is quite possibly the most retarded thing of all time.

This thread is really for those interested in alternatives to the current two party choices. As your mind already made up, probably not a thread you'll get much from.
Personally, I'd just like to see Johnson get in the debates and make his case vs HC and Trump as a counter to the two party death grip they have on the system. Per polls, there's more than enough dissatisfied voters out there to make a difference in this election, which is like no election before it.
If Trump is your choice, then vote for him. I will hold my nose and vote for him before I'd ever vote for HC, I can say that much.

Think about it;
-He gets points alone for simply not having the name Trump or Clinton (many of which are simply voting for because they're a "lesser of two evil") Johnson is that 3rd option. If people can put a face to the name and hear what he stands for he can very well be a formidable opponent for Trumpton. Also, he's middle of the road on a lot of issues which will attract people from both sides of the aisle.
-We've been bombarded with hateful and terrible news stories regarding Trump and Hillary for 1.5 years, and even if they started attacking Johnson today, it wouldn't put a dent in the amount of chit thats already circulating about Trump and Hillary.

People need to start using their noggins vs making knee jerk comments without doing any research.
What I care about is the candidate that will most closely follow the US Const. as their guide. That was Rand Paul in the GOP and now Johnson.
If anyone thinks Trump or HC will do so are living in total fantasy land.

I hope he makes it so people who only follow mainstream media be aware of him and his platform. Like he said "most sane people are libertarians but they don't know it"

The fact that people actually want Gary Johnson, and think he is a viable presidential candidate, is scary. Trump and Hillary are terrible, but GJ is an absolute loony bin.
SMH I am Libertarian on a lot of issues, but I would never, and I mean never, even think about voting for Gary Johnson.
This thread is depressing. GJ supporters are almost as bad as bernie supporters

Johnson is a pathetic excuse for a libertarian. If you can even call him that. Don't want the country's first national stage introduction to a libertarian being this fool

Having him on the debate stage will only serve to distract us from hearing the real candidates statements. They might as well allow me on the debate stage.

He's more a Libertarian than Trump is a conservative, but Johnson is not a true Libertarian by any means, hence why he was a two time GOP gov. Weld was a way left of center GOP gov of my state(1), and was the last effective and popular Gov MA had. He's not even close to perfect, but I tend to side with Johnson far more often on his positions/views than I do current GOP or Dem. Both of them have an actual track record we can look at, both did well by their respective states, both re elected, both with extensive experience getting chit done, etc, etc. Perfect they are not. Better choices than what the GOP or Dem have put forth for us? Oh hell yes.

If he does not get into the debates, chances of any upsets are obviously very remote. If he's part of the debates and a large % of the population is exposed to what they perceive as a viable alternative, I' think he'd have a legit chance if he performed well in a debate.
You said the chances of "any upsets" are very remote... and then "he'd have a legit chance..." in context to a Presidential raceI'm assuming you mean in winning the election. How is my reading comprehension in need of work?

So OP, question. What makes you think Gary Johnson is a good candidate? Do you think he would be a good leader for America?
And don't give me "oh he's better than Trump and Hillary."

Rand Paul should have been the GOP guy by a wide margin, but the GOP paid no attention to him, and now they have Trump and are wondering WTF happened. Dems are well, Dems, so not much to add there if you're a HC/Dem.

I have already addressed that one and it's two party scare mongering nonsense. Two, voting your conscience is never a wasted vote regardless of the outcome. Three, assuming your a Trump guy, all polls find a third party candidate helps Trump and harms HC so far, which I cover in this thread.

I don't agree with him on various issues, 2A Rights in particular, but Johnson is GTG on that issue, and anyone who is a single issue voter of 2A should be pushing for Johnson to get on those debates as hard as they can.I liked him when he was my states governor. I'd like him as el presidente as well.

Weld was also popular in MA when he was Gov of MA, which was my state at the time. Weld was really a uber liberal GOP, but that's the only type of GOP that ever gets elected in MA. Track record of HC = total fail
Track record of Trump = Total unknown as a politician, host of reality show, checkered biz past, has done a 180 on most major issues,
Johnson = Solid overall track record and very consistent on his message. A funny dude, a bit of a loon, likes da weed.
The maff is simple there if you can take all of two seconds to do it.

From the article:
In a state-by-state comparison of FBI crime statistics released Thursday, New Mexico finished worst in the nation in burglary, 48th in forcible rape and 47th in each of the following categories: violent crime, aggravated assault and property crimes.
In fact, New Mexico finished in the bottom half of the states in all nine of the categories listed by the website CriminalJusticeDegreeHub.com, which compiled the numbers.
The site ranked all 50 states in crime categories and produced an interactive graphic allowing viewers to look at each state how it ranks, according to such as murder, forcible rape, auto theft, robberies, assault and more.
It surprises me but on the other hand it doesnt, said Rep. Paul Pacheco, R-Rio Rancho, a retired police officer. Two major drug arteries run right through Albuquerque. Youve got I-40 and I-25 The vast majority of drugs either go through New Mexico or over New Mexico. Thats a problem.
Other states on the southern border fared badly, although not as poorly as New Mexico.

A vote for this clown is a vote for Clinton. He has no chance, and recent polling clearly demonstrates that when he jumps in the polls, Trump drops and vice versa. He's stealing Trump votes in the way Bernie (as a third party) would steal Clinton votes. The more popular this guy gets, the better for Clinton.

And the open borders thing is literally the only gripe people have with him. Seeing as I think it's a non-issue that would never in a million years make it through Congress, you'd have to move onto his other policies, which he gets right a helluva lot more than either Trump or Hillary.

oh and he wants to take in Syrians as well
http://nmpoliticalreport.com/21056/f...candals-syria/
From the article:
He told NM Political Report the United States is at least partially to blame for the situation many Syrian refugees are currently facing.
[The U.S.] should take our fair share,Johnson said. We more than share in the responsibility for them being there in the first place.
He admitted he doesnt know how much a fair share would be, but that it could be figured out mathematically.
While some Republican governors publicly announced their intentions to deny the entry of Syrian refugees into their respective states, Martinez said she opposed the plan to accept them without a more comprehensive plan.
Recently, the governor of Indiana was sued by the American Civil Liberties Union for attempting to block state services to refugees.
