popular vote makes it easier to rig elections.

Some liberal hellhole like california or broward county can just pump in fradulent votes with little oversight because the entire voting system there is ran by liberals with no morals. It doesnt matter how good of a job they are doing in texas or georgia, they will just pump in more fake votes until they win.

They pumped california (west coast, late time zone) full of votes after it was clear that Trump won the election. This was to save face for hillary so they could claim she still "won". Night of the election Trump was ahead in popular votes too when he was declared the winner. Next morning, oh hillary now has another million+ fraudulent votes we pumped in. No paper trail.

It still doesn't seem fair.

According to the op's bill, if, in 2020 trump wins Colorado, but Elizabeth Warren wins the popular vote in the US overall, then that means Warren also wins Colorado.

However, in order for trump to be awarded electoral votes for a state like colorado, the vast majority of its residents would have to vote for him. So no matter how you spin it trump would unjustly lose that state.

Granted colorado is pretty damn blue after the mj laws, but hypothetically if trump could win colorado it wouldn't be in his favor.

As long as swing states or larger states like texas don't try to enact this I think trump will be okay.

This. This type of stuff truly is insidious and evil. The Left is on a full blown power trip and they've gone totally looney. Can't we stop this in the courts though? Electoral college is FUNDAMENTAL to the republic.

Can people now finally see how Trump's "trolling the libs" is an absolutely horrible strategy?

People are going out in droves to vote against him out of spite, no matter who's running against him/his party or what they stand for. As a result we have seen state legislatures swing towards Democrats due to peoples absolute hatred of Trumps behavior and are seeing insanity like these abortion bills, gun control bills and now this bill passing through these states with barely any resistance.

Democrats mean business. They're not going to sit around playing twiddling their thumbs and fight among one another like Republicans do. They're going to force their agenda throughquickly

Actually it's the reverse, you're just too stupid and deluded to see it. Abortion was not made legal by popular vote, dems pushed it to the supreme court because no one would vote for it. Pretty much all of their major legislation they've passed has been through the supreme court and not the people. Because their ideas suck. They haven't won the majority of the white vote since 1965. This is why Trump will win again, because they are already trying to push extreme and unpopular ideas already again.

Yup. As much as I love Trump and what he's trying to do, he's galvanizing the left into a total, unified battering ram. They see an opportunity and they are going full force at our own country, knocking down our values and stability with swift political force. These people are crafty as hell and know how to manipulate our population, look at what they've done to our universities...totally insidious. Ordinarily, such lunacy would be easily exposed and rooted out, but Dems have absolutely lost rational thought when it comes to politics. Try talking to them, and they just shut down or get emotional; they are fried and brainwashed with hatred for Trump. Donald needs to stop tweeting and start being a strong, stable leader...even if it means being kind to the opposition, though it's probably too late.

Wtf are you guys talking about? The left is more fractured than they've ever been, and have NO chance of even challenging Trump in 2020.

Dude, you are underestimating how galvanized the left is right now. Look at how they came out in 2018, it will be even greater in 2020. They might be fractured because of Schultz, but he will probably leave the race before it really begins.

They are only galvanized in their hatred of Trump. You can't run and win on that alone, which is what they will try and do.

Did you miss the midterms?

I know people try to say that losing 40 house seats isn't bad compared to what other presidents have lost, but this was a completely different environment. The left went off the deep end and were/are outright rejecting the results of the 2016 presidential election. Trump could have absolutely eviscerated them after his election if he just focused on the swing voters and showed them that he's the adult in the room while letting the pussy hat wearers and the media throw their tantrums. Instead he has turned off so many people and has whipped up the left into a frenzy. As a result we had actual socialists and ISIS apologists get elected to Congress

Let me ask you a question.

Let's say I'm a presidential candidate running for office, and we've eliminated the EC.

If I simply say "please, vote for me, I'm going to put a majority of federal funding towards New York and California. My priority will be making these states great, and improving your lives first." in a way that suggests I'll ignore many other states in the US.

CA and NY have more people... therefore if people vote in their interest (which they do) that means I could get elected, ignoring the rest of the country and the remaining states. Right?

Does EC make a bit more sense now?

look man, as ive stated before im a strong supporter in states rights. if a state wants to do something, then whatever, as long as it doesnt infringe on the floor level rights required by the constitution.

but for federal law and federal election, SOME people are gonna have to make sacrifices and not get their way. I'm trying to get the number of those people who dont get their way as small as possible. thats why federal law should be majority/popular vote - so that MOST people have their voices heard - regardless of where those people are situated.

this strikes me as less fukked up than having a MINORITY of voices heard.

You should try to absorb and directly refute some of the examples arguing for an EC. Your position strikes me as naive and not thoughtful.

Popular vote can seem “fairer” on initial impression, but when you dig deeper it doesn’t seem to be the case.

If you listed out the pros and cons it might help your case, by showing you acknowledge the scenarios presented.

bruh.....take a deep breath and fukking relax.

The party in power always loses the house in mid terms, it would've been an absolute unmitigated disaster for dems if they didn't, especially with the high number of republicans retiring.

Repubs won seats in the senate, only 3rd time in ~100 years that has happened. 3rd in 100 doesn't happen if they are being completely rejected by voters.

He has damn near equal approval ratings as Obama despite being attacked by most of the major media outlets on a daily basis while Obama had most of them sucking his cawk daily and covering for him. He has super fukking high approval ratings among republicans.

The left are digging their own grave with these extremist pushes the second they've gained any kind of power. Killing babies late 3rd trimester, insane 2nd amendment infringement, electing dumb fuk socialists and Muslim ISIS apologists. None of this helps in a national election, moderate independent/repub/dems are looking at this chit and wondering who let the psychos out of the asylum.

I kind of hope Trump wins the popular vote but loses the electoral vote in 2020 so I can watch the hilarious chaos it creates.

Gives potentially one or two states to wildly swing elections when they could people retarded and not care about most of the rest of the country.

For example, those states with sanctuary cities would be able to allow these people to run our country within a generation or two.

I'm not sure I have a problem with this. If Claifonia did it then it would peel off electoral votes for Republicans. I'm okay with candidates campaigning for the most votes across the country rather than just a few key states. I fail to see how this benefits or hurts a party.

States should retaliate and declare that the candidate who spends more doesn't get any electoral votes. RIP Democratic "Citizens United" Party.

.
The Democrats came out in record numbers in 2018.

THat NEVER happens.

In 2010, 45 million Republicans voted. In 2018, 61 million Democrats voted (and no, it's not due to population increases).

The Democrats in a MID-TERM year got only 2 million less votes than what Trump got in 2016. Once again, the Republicans got 45 million votes in 2010. How much did Obama get in 2008? 69 million.

The Republicans should've also gained like 7 seats. It was a favorable year towards them. The fact they only gained 2 is embarrassing.
Republicans are weak men who pretend to be strong

Democrats are strong men who pretend to be weak

I guarantee he'd be singing a different tune if those states were deep-red conservative. Guarantee it. The EC is the last vestige of the Republic, dems want to destroy it and have a one-party nation, and everyone knows how that will end, the destruction of the America, which is what they want.

even better if this law causes colorado ny and california to vote trump in the EC(securing a massive win) due to a razor thin pop vote win but losing major swing states(and the EC)
