Just the Dems fighting for the little guy as usual.

Swampy Steve could exempt any company he wanted from the no stock buyback clause.

Kind of like that’s all companies did with Trump’s tax cuts for rich. Surely he’ll campaign on that.

Everyone that made under $75,000 was going to get $1,200 and phased out to $0 if you made over $99,000. Specifically, how were the “everyday people” not being taken care of. And define what what the “everyday people” are.

This. There is great stuff for bailouts for small business, but republicans want to extend the bailouts to large corporations without any oversight as well as stock buyback. Basically, they see this bill as securing future profits for themselves, while pissing on the working american and calling it rain.

Trump specifically said no stock buy backs. Can you cite specifically where buy backs were to be allowed in the bill?

Not at all, I'm stating that government spending, in this instance, directed at businesses in an emergency, is going to keep businesses open. A Tax cut for businesses (not asking them to pay sales tax on sales they've earned to date, etc) would help restaurants/retail locations as well.

This is going to be difficult for you, but even conservatives view what we're doing presently as part of the role of the government. Helping the country get through a difficult time lasting a few months is different from propping up the country all the time on government spending. Derp.

Except for when you blow up government spending all the time instead of just specific, targeted spending in limited areas to sustain business over a limited time.

Suspension of payroll tax would help as an alternative, but they're offering loans. /Shrug.

Want to know what's really getting folks through this? Suspending government red tape on licensing and manufacturing.

Meanwhile, you're mad because the President doesn't want to let the largest employers in the country fail.

You mean the massive government spending, including 1 trillion in military spending over the last few years?

If Trump wasn't an idiot and didn't get rid of the pandemic specialists none of this would be an issue. So Trump is to blame for all of it. I also doesn't help that Trump is actively calling the virus a hoax at his rallies which makes it spread even more.

1. Trump didn't get rid of the pandemic specialists. We have a fully functional pandemic response team at the CDC. He got rid of a board of advisers who sit around costing millions doing nothing that was created when Obama bombed the Ebola outbreak half a decade ago.

2. Trump never called the virus a hoax. He called the democrat response to it a hoax.

3. What military spending? He's ended a war in Syria and is ending a war in Afghanistan. Are you trying to conflate maintaining a military with direct payments to citizens during a pandemic which is interrupting their ability to work?

Senate requires 60 votes to pass. Dems have 47 votes, Republicans have 53. Dems can prevent laws from passing the Senate if they choose to do so and are unified.

House writes the bill and votes on it, then sends that version to the Senate.

Senate, either amends the bill and it goes back to the house for them to review and decide to move forward on that bill and revise again, or the Senate passes it.

If it passes the Senate, it goes to the president who has the option to sign or veto.
