I think theres a pretty good chance that trump will lose...based on one of the reasons he won in 2016 (people voting against him). Combine that with many GOP members supporting Biden. I don't see how you can win an election with less support than you had previously and more people voting against you.
He could win I guess, if he won some key states but it will be a chit show bc theres no way hes winning the popular election and would most likely lose the popular election by an even bigger margin than he did in 2016.

The RCP aggregate shows the 2016 polls weren't that far off and within the margin of error. They invest a lot of time and effort and reputable polls are done by outlets with a long track record.
Projection and analysis is a different story. That is using the polling data to predict the future, which is usually people creating their own projections based off the data. This can be as rigorous as the projection from 538 or as basic as some random looking at the poll and telling you who they think will win. The rigorous analyses, however, come with a margin of probability.
In 2016, the polls were accurate but the analysis was all over the place. 538 was pretty accurate but the pundits from various channels were basically doing poor guesswork, ascribing arbitrary probabilities which had no rigorous statistical analysis behind them.
