Did it go up, down, or remain stable while Johnson was in office? That's obviously the stat that would matter most in this context. I think we should do a better job of border security, but "build a 10 foot wall and they will build an 11 ft ladder" as Johnson says, so like drugs and other chit, if you don't address the demand side, you'll NEVER prevent the supply.

That cheap labor brah...there's a reason no POTUS to date has seriously addressed that border.

If he goes full Obama then I'll vote him out but as far as what America needs going forward I think only trump has the solutions

Which polices? Supporting nafta and tpp? Leaving the border wide open? Accepting our "fair share" of Muslim "refugees"? I get you want to buy pot at the corner store but let's not put the nail in the coffin of America for it.

I haven't seen that one; the 538 article I was referring to came out at the start of the month. However, if you plot a regression Johnson's overall growth is almost the same as Clinton's overall decline. We'll see what happens after the DNC, since Trump's bump could be a result of that.

From the article:

He told NM Political Report the United States is at least partially to blame for the situation many Syrian refugees are currently facing.

“[The U.S.] should take our fair share,”Johnson said.“We more than share in the responsibility for them being there in the first place.”

He admitted he doesn’t know how much a “fair share” would be, but that it could be figured out mathematically.

While some Republican governors publicly announced their intentions to deny the entry of Syrian refugees into their respective states, Martinez said she opposed the plan to accept them without a more comprehensive plan.

Recently, the governor of Indiana was sued by the American Civil Liberties Union for attempting to block state services to refugees.
And he's 100% right. We backed "moderate" rebels to destabilize a mostly secular government. There's no such thing as moderate Muslim rebels and much of the weapons we sent went right to ISIS hands and various factions there of. The Syrian government is a POS to be sure, but the Obama admin is in large part responsible for the cluster fu%$ that is Syria now, hence Johnson's comments.

Or, we can derpa derp and yell "build dat giant wall" which will never get built along with "they took our jaaaaaaabs" South Park style.

Me, I'd like to see a few divisions of US troops stationed on the border doing regular maneuvers and if you get run over by a tank while illegally crossing the border, tuff chit.

Larger polls suggest otherwise, and I can't understand this statement "Bernie Bros would help the Democratic cause hugely by supporting Johnson now."

If the "Bernie bros" would otherwise vote for HC, how does that not help Trump? That article does a poor job of supporting it's own contentions.

Was there a vote on US involvement in Syria? Did the people of the US support this? We now have to pay for these people and so does the rest of the western world. That's completely ridiculous.

Any place where rapefugees have gone, they've caused problems.

What you support is a government that doesn't represent the people going around the world causing problems and then asking the people it doesn't represent to pay for the problems.

WTF are you talking about? I don't/didn't support the Obama admin in doing that. Derp. I did however explain to you how it is in fact in large measure the fault of US involvement that the refuge crisis exists. Critical reading skills: use them

Two, Johnson is more Libertarian in that respect in that he's a strict non interventionist which some may feel too isolationist. Pre WWII the US was very isolationist.

With HC you get more Obama BS and with Trump you get "I'll bomb the sh&% out of them" comments. You think he'll get a vote on that? So, if you claim you don't want a gubment doing such things, than again, Johnson is by FAR the best choice in terms of a POTUS who plans to be non interventionist. I'm starting to see why you're red son...

Where he calls Trump a pussy. Fact is, Johnson is the only one with even close to Alpha male status the misc seems to value so much. He's done legit man chit. Last "real" man we had as POTUS was Bush Sr if anyone is counting....

I don't consider that required to hold office per se, but I think a diverse background and experiences make a far more well rounded and qualified person.

No surprise. People are now starting to take a serious look at their alternatives to Dump and HC. I'd expect his polling to rise with all that google fu going on.

One of the few positives of Trump winning the GOP nomination is it breaks the stranglehold that the far right religious neocon types have had on the party since Reagan, which is why they dislike him so much. Regardless or not if he wins, this does signal a new direction for the GOP and it (unfortunately) took a bull in a china shop to finally do it. The GOP was never going to allow someone like Paul to be the nominee as he too not on their game plan, and by their desperate attempt to hold onto power of the GOP by not getting behind a legit candidate like Paul, they cut off their nose to spite their face and got Trump to deal with. Hence, they made their own bed on that one as did the nation.

What you haven't answered is:

You elect a Libertarian like Johnson. He opens the borders. Mass amounts of third world people enter, sure they get jobs, pay taxes etc.

But WHAT happens next election when they overwhelmingly DO NOT vote Libertarian?

You are fukked, pal. Libertarianism will only EVER work when those open borders only apply to ethnically white/Asian countries with similar standards of living as the U.S.

That's not saying nobody else would be able to enter, just that open borders wouldn't apply to them.

Answer my questions please.

LOLOLOL!

He has a sensible plan for immigration that makes sense. He is a 1 strike you are out candidate. Hardly open borders. LOL at using a 15 year quote as current evidence. If we go back 15 years on any other candidate you will see plenty of contradicting views.

See post #57 for response. He won't "open the borders" any more than Trump will get a giant wall. Serious selective reasoning on what a POTUS can and cant achieve.

"You elect a Libertarian like Johnson. He opens the borders." Just LOL.

If he did well by the nation and his approaches/policies popular, he'd get re elected. If not, he would not, and we could go back to the GOP/Dems which have done so great by us all.

It's not rocket science brah. Two, Johnson is no true Libertarian by any means, which is why many in the Libertarian party don't like him and are not happy he's running in their ticket and he was two time GOP Gov. I suspect you don't really know jack chit about him and are just parroting what you have heard. Me, I find myself agreeing with his positions far more than not when I look at a neutral source, especially his 2A positions:

Here is is talking about how to reduce illegal crossings and other topics showing he's not for open borders but a realistic balanced approach to the issue:

https://alibertarianfuture.com/2016-...-this-country/

If those don't resonate for you, then vote Hil-Dump.

LOLOLOL!

He has a sensible plan for immigration that makes sense. He is a 1 strike you are out candidate. Hardly open borders. LOL at using a 15 year quote as current evidence. If we go back 15 years on any other candidate you will see plenty of contradicting views.
It shows the astounding level of cognitive dissonance there. If you point out Trump (and HC) have done a full 180 on all manner of major topics using 15 year old quotes, you get "he changed his mind" or something equally poor.

I aligned with Jill Stein more than anyone else. Hilary was my second alignment. (But I'd never vote for her, she just seems evil.) Gary J was my third choice. And Trump was my 4th.

Seems like Gary Johnson and Jill Stein will both cancel each other out and we'll be stuck with Trump or Hilary. I can't really conjure much other than apathy towards the entire process, and don't care much for politics in the first place.
