I am from a place similar to Beverly Hills. Million dollar homes and top ranked schools. I then went to a top ranked university in a different country. Something like Cambridge. I noticed a huge difference. Most of all this foreign university encouraged critical thinking. In my US school, though high ranked, the emphasis was on obedience. Learn the sht and regurgitate it. Dont ask questions. At my foreign university they wanted us to think.

I took the GRE and scored 99%ile in analytical reasoning. I came back to the US for graduate school. I had a professor (he was Jewish) who said US universities neglect critical thinking. Not to go so far as to say its intentional. Thats conspiratorial. But it is neglected. He said I was one of the best students he ever had and I guarantee it was only because I was educated abroad. I was mediocre in my foreign university but back in the states I was like a rhodes scholar.

So why is our education so bad? Thats where we need to start.

But whether by accidental incompetence or deliberate manipulation...things arent improving. We have been at a constant state of tension. Life expectancy is actually going down. It costs more now to live at a lower quality than our parents did. All around inflation.
