Environmental scientist checking in. Here are my thoughts:

- Is the global climate warming up? Without a doubt

- Is human activity accelerating it? Yes. Greenhouse gasses are greenhouse gasses. If you burn a piece of wood, you take that carbon out of a solid form and put it into the atmosphere in a gaseous form. That warms the planet.

- Is global warming happening at such a pace where humans won't figure out the technology needed to survive through it? No. I don't believe it will destroy the world. Humans survived many major climate changes with sticks and caves, there's no reason to believe we won't survive whatever happens with the climate with our advanced technology.

- Are there worse things happening to the environment than climate change? Yes. I think deforestation, habitat destruction, coral reef destruction, plastics in the ocean, and overall pollution are far worse problems than climate change.

Just out of curiosity, do you have a Phd in an environmental science related field, or any field related to climate science?

"Scientist" is a subjectively defined term, but I (and I am certainly not alone in this) consider it to be a published Phd working in the field. I also don't consider environmental management to be directly related to things like the science of climate change, hey to each his own though.

No, we account for about 15% of world greenhouse emissions, putting us after China and before India.

Oh please, rando on the misc, do tell me how considering scientists to be published PhDs working in a relevant field, and "environmental management" as unrelated to the scientific field of climate change, is low-IQ. Just fkn lol.

Democrats don't care about climate change either. They just use it as an excuse to spend tax dollars on worthless causes. Neither party has proposed a revenue neutral carbon tax. Instead, the Democrats give tax credits to their donors.

Oil is the lifeblood of the modern economy, without which we would still be living in 1800's like existence, most of us without electricity and automobiles except for coal and wood-fired steam power for the few who could afford it.

What is a great way to destroy a large, modern, free country like the US today?>

- Heavily tax and regulate their use of petroleum products.

That is the plan behind the 'carbon tax and regulation' scam - to make it too expensive to do business here so that the US economy is further destroyed in relation to communist China, to give communism an eventual chance of taking over and enslaving us all under it's robbing, raping, murdering, genocidal nightmare. The already-existing excess taxation and regulation on US business has already made it too expensive to do business here, has sent epic amounts of wealth and power to China, and this carbon crap scam would be the final nail in the coffin of the US economy.

So it's simply a Marxist communist agenda to destroy American business and America as we know it. It is no coincidence that the same national figures who are pushing all the other known Marxist agendas are also pushing this as well. It is a Marxist long con game. Many naive, unintelligent, foolish 'useful idiots' (what the communists call their fools) are of course also falling for the communists' scam and foolishly playing alone to eventually enslave themselves. Even back when the USSR was still in existence, they did similar by pushing various strangling environmentalism propaganda in the US and Europe.

So what's the cause for this? Everyone outside where I live drives big cars like trucks, mini-vans, suvs. You see more fast food restaurants being opened so the owners can be on that ceo time. You bring in 100s-1m+ immigrants yearly that increase the demand for meat, cars, housing etc? The majority of these people aren't going to eat grass...

It's called game theory. The only way we can reverse course is to invade India and China. And I don't feel we should do that based on questionable science.
