I honestly won't have a problem with publicly funded college with no tax increase, ded srs.
So take my argument and apply it to someone who can see the light at the end of the tunnel on their loans. Say they had $50k worth of loans and are at $5k left. They did everything right, scrimping to be able to pay that off. How is it fair to them to forgive everyone else's $50k loan and make them watch $45k worth of sacrificing go down the drain?

At most, I'd be ok with making the interest 0% if you've been paying like a decade with no progress. Likely if you haven't made a dent in 10 years, you're never paying that sucker off. If you aren't making any money in 10 years after you get your degree, your degree has been effectively useless and you'll probably never make enough money to ever pay the loan off.

spite -a desire to hurt, annoy, or offend someone.
For example, in a game, if you take an action that hurts you and also someone else, it is an action of spite. Neither side gains, and actually, both lose.
You seem to want others to face the same hardships as you. This is not a good argument for why student loans should not be forgiven. There are better arguments. That's all I am saying.

I’m against it because the government shouldn’t be bailing out people’s spending decisions

And I didn't clarify, but the only way I'm good with public funded college is if there is a list of approved majors that will benefit society. You want to major in gender fluid basket weaving you're on your own.

At the end of the day, their debt wasn't so much what they owed from the bailout, so much as it was the mess they made for everyday people, which led to them needing the bailout.

Nothing worse than mindless 1980s Reagan baby boomer conservatives on their knees, mouths wide open, getting a sperm facial from bankers, Colleges with billions in endowments (who hate them and poison the culture of their country), and big government. Can barely hear them drone on about "muh boot straps" with all of that jizz in their mouths.
Giving obscene loans to teenagers, making it the only type of loan that can't be discharged in bankruptcy, lying to them for years in government indoctrination factories about how they need to take these loans or they will be losers who never amount to anything. The whole system is gross.
At the VERY least, government shouldn't guarantee these loans (meaning banks will be MUCH less likely to hand them out in the first place, meaning far fewer will qualify, meaning there's far less money flooding into the education market, meaning prices come way down) and they should be able to be discharged in bankruptcy like any other loan.

I don't care how or why the debt is there, but fuk these idiots. Have a degree and didn't bother figuring out how to manage, consider it the stupid tax. Asking Americans, many of whom have not gone to college and have their own life decisions to deal with to carry this is unreal. What about moral hazard? I guess this goes well with the liberal ideology of "fuk the country, I want mine." Deal with it. I and many others chose not to blow $50k on an out of state basket weaving class, and now we are being asked to carry your mistakes? Again? Fuk that.
Get govt out of the loan business, and make that chit dischargeable. Now watch the loan amounts go down and tuition hikes slow to a crawl. Govt fuks everything up, let the private sector handle it, they understand risk and how to deal with it.

My SO got boned in her situation. Textbook fukkery, went to for profit college, took out $30k in loans and ended up with useless degree. She moved on. She ended up killing her loans by sending 2-3 checks a month to bring down the principle, on a fast food job. We have the most information we've ever had available to us all in the convenient form of a pocket sized cell phone. Tell me, when these cucks looked at their statement every month, and chose to send the minimum due, and saw their balance go up month after month, should I log in and pull out my checking account and set up principle payments for them? Cos that's what it sounds like you want all of us to do.
