I'm more and more convinced that these cases have very little to do with the parents' ignorance and a lot more to do with what seems to be some kind of Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy. In fact, the amount of attention the parent receives through their child's mental illness is probably greater than the attention received through physical illness. With physical illness, doctors will usually get to the bottom of it relatively quickly, with mental illness, you're setting your child up for a lifetime of requiring professional help.

Had a similar discussion in our Legal Philosophy class, recently. It had a focus on John Rawls' Embodiment vs Disembodiment perspective (look this up, btw; fairly interesting to read about).

Lecturer was left-leaning as usual but I was surprised at the amount of students who'd argued the whole, "What if it's just a phase?" question.

For interested parties, Louis Theroux did a documentary on this; worthwhile to check it out.

Hit your protein and fat minimums to stay healthy and keep your gainz.
Lift heavy and do HIIT to look and feel awesome.

I think it's because of the xenoestrogens in our environment, terrible diets that don't support healthy hormone production and the lack of physical activity and father figures. Feeding babies soy based formulas instead of mothers milk. Growing up on cereals instead of bacon and eggs. Even the milk in the cereal is low fat homogenized garbage. Things like "I can't believe its not butter", mayo and other vegetable oils along with sugar has replaced a huge amount of the fats people use to eat. The lack of roughhousing with a father figure and physical activity in general for a boy to develop naturally.

It makes it easy for these single mother feminist types to push it on their boys when they are sissies because of all these other environmental factors to begin with.
