Maybe because Buzzfeed were claiming that it came from testimony and documentation. They weren't indulging in hearsay, they were supposedly referencing lawyer's work product, which has legal implications.

People can speculate about publicly available info, about pie in the sky flights of fancy, cite "people familiar with the thought processes of" or whatever other BS they want, but if they claim to have seen documentation, then the person that showed it to them is getting fired, disbarred and possibly going to prison.

I don't think Mueller cares much about leaks. The problem for him would be people thinking he has evidence on Trump committing a felony....and it not existing. Especially when we heard just last week that his report will likely be very underwhelming for the Left. Imagine Mueller saying nothing for weeks, and the Left calling for impeachment/resignations 24/7 during that period, only to find out none of it existed. Though, Barr would have said something once he got in office.

Reference my above post. People canthinkthat xyz came from a leak, but when the story states they saw documentation, it isstating to the worldthat there was a leak. A leak that would have legal ramifications for both Mueller's team and the investigation.

A media outlet stating that they were shown infothat could only have come from Mueller's team? That is a black and white thing and hence the rebuttal.

But the story is inaccurate, so there's no evidence to corroborate any leak. Mueller could have said nothing since it would have come out eventually that Trump didn't tell Cohen to lie. The problem was the Left thinking he had all this evidence, and going scorched Earth.

It was extraordinarily unprecedented that Mueller came out and refuted the Buzzfeed report. In other words, it never happens.

Even though Buzzfeed will survive, because its demographics will intentionally believe even the proven untruth, it will take a hit, as well as the MSM will take a hit for this.

I just know he has a terrible record of using harsh tactics to get convictions and even ignoring evidence resulting in hundreds of people's lives being destroyed. He also has a reputation for covering up for his mistakes. People don't talk about it much because people are repeating the mantra of what an honorable man his is for serving in the military 50 years ago and for trying to go after bad people. What they neglect to do is look at his actual record.

This Buzzfeed story is only one of dozens of false stories from the left MSM that have had to have been pulled back. No repercussions. Just has become a game to one-up the previous false story.

Flat out lying to the American public has become the norm.

Giuliani says Trump might have talked to Cohen about testimony
Washington (CNN) — President Donald Trump's attorney Rudy Giuliani argued Sunday he did not know for sure if Trump spoke with Michael Cohen about his congressional testimony, but that it would not have been significant if Trump did.

"I don't know if it happened or didn't happen. It may be attorney-client privilege if it happened, where I can't acknowledge it. But I have no knowledge that he spoke to him, but I'm telling you I wasn't there then," Giuliani said on CNN's "State of the Union" with Jake Tapper.

He continued, "So what if he talked to him about it?"

Giuliani said as far as he knew, Trump had not had discussions with Cohen where Trump "told him or counseled him to lie."

Giuliani's comments came after the office of special counsel Robert Mueller disputed a report from BuzzFeed News that said Trump directed Cohen to lie to Congress about a Trump Tower project in Moscow. Mueller's office said the outlet's "description of specific statements to the Special Counsel's Office, and characterization of documents and testimony obtained by this office, regarding Michael Cohen's Congressional testimony are not accurate."
