Congress should’ve funded the wall and failed. Not having a wall is squarely on them. It’s not something that Trump should be faking a NE over. Correct move would be to ramp up pressure on those Congressmen who wouldn’t give funding for it so the voters can get them out.

But again this will be terrible for future precedent. There’s not always going to be an R in the white house

The entire news cycle over the last government shut downs has been TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP

He’s not responsible for the funding, CONGRESS is. He’s not responsible for the shut down, CONGRESS is.

This whole wall funding thing should be a non-starter because it’s not something that he should be responsible for anyways, regardless of whether it had been approved or not. Congress sets funding. It’s not American to get around that unilaterally. The American response would be to vote out the people who wouldn’t fund it. Congress continues to be a bag of useless diks and will get away with it because once again the news cycle will be on Trump

That’s just it. I’m waiting for him to sign it so I can be pissed or waiting for him to kick it back. It’s all speculation at this point and it’s the normal news **** where everyone wants to be first and not right. McConnell said he will sign it and I’ve seen some other politician say he won’t. Pointless to speculate it seems.

I don’t think gun control through a NE would work but a very real possibility would be declaring climate change a NE and using it to appropriate funds from one thing towards whatever that would entail. Doubly so considering the DoD considers climate change to be a security risk already.

But again... that isn’t the job of the executive branch

Completely agree with this.

The President has a limited set of tools but is still incredibly powerful, especially as an "outsider" that is free to play both sides.

The message from day one is that congress must live up to their responsibilities. Use the veto power. Tell congress to assume every bill is getting an automatic veto unless they work together or come talk to the White House to see if something can be worked out. Remind the Republicans he didn't need them during the election and doesn't need them now either becasue he doesn't give a fuk and will happily work with any Democrat who might need a little side deal for their district in exchange for a future vote for the easily sold idea of border security. Make every speech about congress, praising and shaming as needed. It's basic art of the deal leadership stuff applied to government and it works.

Or, I guess, blast out daily autistic tweets reminding everyone who the big dog is and see if anyone calls your bluff.
