If it is a public domain then the "its a private company" no longer applies and they cannot blacklist people for their views because it hurts someones feelings.

So many people being anti social media that regularly post content from YouTube, ********, or twitter.

Being conservative means limited regulation. How about don’t being those sites traffic. If all republicans stopped using them they’d be forced to change their model.

Yes, so what ? They are private companies, they can do whatever legal thing they want in their platforms.

Conservatives are free to create their own apps, there is zero barriers to entry.

This, stop going to those apps and create your own conservative leaning platforms. Or buy twitter ******** etc and manage it where you ban all left accounts. Stop trying to get government involved when conservatives always claim how much they dislike government control.

Sounds a fantastic idea to me - many Countrty's do it in the Far East ..... it could bring things back to how they used to be b4 it wrecked everything!!

Ok yeah - I agree keep it going and don't close it down totally .... but a lot more moderating is needed to re; over fake ages of people (particulary on ********) and being being called out on Twitter ... something sure needs doing imho!!

You are stretching, he talked about disinfectant, whenever a person hears disinfectant, people think about stuff like lysol, or hand sanitizer not hydrogen peroxide. He was looking at the docs while he was saying those things and the docs seemed dumbfounded. Msm show him in a bad light? Of course, but he gives them tons of ammunition everyday.

They're a company. They can censor whatever they want to. Just like how this site can censor all talk about cell tech.

The government is not allowed to censor speech, but a company can.

They act like they're not allowed to moderate within their own private property that has user-agreed-upon terms and conditions.

They won't be happy and satisfied unless Milo Yipaondoupolous is allowed to post child abuse and hate speech completely unfettered. These "conservatives" have a god-given right to someone else's property. They started building their own alternative website a few years back but apparently they're still having trouble printing out 'HELLO WORLD'

Really we need an internet Bill of Rights. This is long overdue. This is something that should have been crafted in the 90s or early 2000s. This would have been a great way to spread American influence and culture from the onset. Free speech would be chief among these. This would have prevented the type of censorship we are seeing around the net. The internet was invented by DARPA. The US taxpayer funded the foundation of what today is the internet. We should have offered a blueprint for how it was to be used.

What we are seeing is a communist chinese style of censorship creeping into our social media companies. Google has been working on a chinese version of google for years. And it seems they are starting to employ similar styles and tactics they learned in China, on the American people. Instead of America influencing the world in a positive way, we are allowing a communist country like China to influence our country because our social media companies are doing everything they can to appease China and get into their internet market.

There is no internet censorship. There is censorship done by companies on the internet, but the internet itself is not censored. Companies are allowed to censor whatever they want on their own platform

The issue we have are the tech companies are monopolies and the new avenues for mainstream speech and news. Twitter, ********, Instagram, and Google are here to stay and any competition will be bought out by one of them so that defeats the "build your own" argument. We've never been down this road and are still going off laws written in the late 90s.

This amounts to nothing more than verbal gymnastics ^^ Yes there is internet censorship. Yes, companies that call themselves platforms have certain inherit rights. HOWEVER, if companies are found to no longer be neutral platforms, and they start acting as publishers, they are no longer under the same kinds of protections they once enjoyed. And twitter is definitely stepping beyond that red line between publisher and platform.

Trump could just abandon Twitter. It would somewhat wreck the company.

The actual EO should focus on legal. Right now they get around libel laws by virtue of marketing themselves as platforms. If they constrain the language on them to fit a narrative then they are no longer functioning strictly as a platform but in a way as a publisher. They should have never been able to hide behind platform status to protect themselves from lawsuits.

Then why is it okay for the head of Twitter's integrity team to tweet that there's "actual nazis" in the Whitehouse? What about Dems who constantly lie on Twitter? You know you're being biased, so stop with the stupid replies.

"Regulating" amounts to losing protections that would open social media sites up to being sued.

If Twitter is going to fact check Trump they should fact check, at the very least, all prominent politicians. Hopefully they will but I won't hold my breath. They censured Trump, they did not censor him.

Problem is, they'll use CNN and Washington Post as references for their fact check so liberals always come off scot-free. That would be like using Breitbart and RedState as the fact checkers for Biden. Add to that the person in charge of fact checking is a well known trump hater so imagine Rush Limbaugh in charge of fact checking Biden using Breitbart and RedState as his references.

I think we've all learned from Snopes how bad "the truth" can be manipulated by "fact checkers." Like how a lib can say something absolutely ridiculous, but if there happens to be something in it that happens to be true, they will focus on that and declare it mostly true. But if its something they don't like, it can be true and they will ride the smallest detail that happens to be wrong or unproven and ride it to mostly false. And when it comes to some of the other fact checkers, I've seen them declare a statistic as false even when it was absolutely 100% true. Then they explain "while the statistic was reported 100% accurate, blah, blah, blah."

The perception of "truth" is a lot more fluid than some people want to admit, particularly if all they are going to do is boil everything down to a truth rating without reading the details.
