I mean I've looked up how many gender studies degrees were given and it's on the order of a fraction of a fraction of a percent, something like 600 total of the tens of thousands of degrees given. And the average student loan is under half the number 80k number you were using.

I personally dont know anyone who did the things you said but I also went to a completely non partying school.

I know plenty of former college friends who are in crippling debt.

I also recall those same friends partying every night and traveling every summer and not working at all while in college.

Its a slap in the face to just erase their debt while others worked all through college to minimize their debt.
Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

This is the best solution imo.

That outcome is likely to get more common. People get jelly when they see friends on social media doing all these epic abroad trips or going to music festivals every year. Students forget about living within their means.

The first thing is.......how much chit and debt did they incur after college. Did they jump right into the nice cars, big houses and toys after college?

What's with all of these logical questions? You're supposed to feel sorry for these "victims." And vote for Bernie, because he's going to make all of their problems disappear....

So how can they not figure out that if you don't pay MORE THAN JUST THE INTEREST PAYMENTS YOU WILL NEVER GET RID OF THE DEBT?? For real, how is this shocking to them? I don't understand. Literally a 6th grader could pull up a pay off calculator and figure out what it would take to pay off a balance in 5 years, 10 years, or 20 years. These people easily could pay off their loans if they utilized an extra 10 hours a week driving uber or bartending on the weekends or anything really. They choose not to because they are entitled and don't think they should not have to be responsible for the debt they signed for at the interest rate they signed for.

What was the point of going to college if, when graduated, you aren't smart enough to figure out how to pay off a dam loan??
they probably can't afford to pay more than the interest. If they have a $100k loan, the interest alone is probably as much as their rent.

True, they still had to sign, but they were also coerced by their elders (parents/school administration) to do so and they weren't stopped by the very people who should have cautioned them on taking out such a loan.

it depends. with a $100k loan you can probably settle some deal with the lender to pay a smaller amount than the interest...but even if the interest rate was 1% (which it never is) thats $1000.00 in interest alone.

So much for that bigly college education that leftist liberals love to brag about. "Look at my Hogwarts diploma I'm so much smarter and better than you." End result - unemployed, can't afford to pay rent, can't afford to pay the loan. B.b.b.but it's a fault of somebody else.

Meanwhile, conservative blue collar professional receives job offers before even finishing the trade school, makes close to six figures, and has a valuable life skill that he can utilize in his every day life (while the average college educated liberal doesn't know how to change a light bulb)

Smallest violin playing for the poor college educated deadbeat Democrat voters. No loan forgiveness, no nothing, you can foam at the mouth and vote for Bernie all day long but that chit ain't happening.

We've had this discussion before and its always the same... "There has to be a way to go to college without debt! If only there was a way..."

So I told them there absolutely is a way. The military paid for my education and I took out $0 in loans. But then the argument changes to something like...

"There has to be a way to go to college without debt or signing your life away to the military! If only there was a way..."

Today I learned that apparently student loan debt is amortized monthly.

It's no wonder they can't pay it back when they're getting 7% of the principle charged as interestevery single month.

Oh...wait, that's retarded? Yeah, just like everything else that tries to garner sympathy for me towards people with massive student debt, it's all based on lies.

My grand dad was a mailman in Honea Path (you know where that is, seeing your location). They had nothing.

My dad went to college and med school, paid for by the US Army, and served 8 years to pay it all back.

I was fortunate enough to grow up with some means since my dad made that sacrifice and became a doctor with zero debt.

He changed his family's fortunes in one generation by doing that deal with the Army.

Lol we god damn loan sharks up in here now. Student loans are bad though...

Brb 15% interest on a brand new $40k car that will depreciate down to fuking nothing - and then finance another one just because.

Typical irresponsible leftist moocher mindset. I guess it's my fault that you rawdogged and busted inside some street prostitute, and now have to pay her child support. Poor you. And I bet the same applies for the rest of your irresponsible leftist lifestyle choices, because there's no fuking way you live paycheck to paycheck while making $100K unless you waste money on stupid things.

Several of my co-workers did that too.. And if you'll look around, there are thousands upon thousands of people who have done the exact same thing - companies all over the country are filled with them.

I also joined the National Guard when I got out of the Army so I was able to take advantage of both. In fact because of that, not only was my education paid for, but I even had enough for living expenses and only worked during the summer.

This 100% was my experience. The thought of not going to college wasn't even an option - it was drilled into our heads that a college degree is mandatory in today's world. I wish I had gone the public college option, as it seems a lot of people are doing now knowing about the huge loan industry and all its trappings...I have a cousin whose father is a millionaire plastic surgeon and she's going to public, I think the trend is going in that direction...

I enjoyed college and have great memories, but no way was the education/job part worth the loans.

Exactly. Not only do you get your education paid for, you enter the Army as an officer and someone they are going to promote as fast as their regs allow, and your living expenses are all paid for and you can bank money while you "pay off" the Army.

My niece wanted to be a nurse and I tried to get her to follow that route. My idiot sister talked her out of it though... She didn't want her baby doing a bunch of Army things. So I said fukit, join the Air Force or the Navy. She'd still be an officer, have a cushy job on a base hospital in Hawaii or somewhere and fuk fighter pilots. But no....

This is true, but how come no one wants to talk about all the people who didn't even go to college at all? That population is actually the majority of the country.

Why should they be on the hook for the decisions of people whodidgo to college?

Combine them with the "responsibles" and we're probably talking about 98%+ of the country paying for the bad decisions of the 2%.

When I got out of school the Navy was always up at the college of engineering recruiting engineers with redonkulous signing bonuses, salaries, and cush assignments. I thought about it pretty hard, but my dad said "no son I served 8 years so you don't have to" lol.

Good choice! I graduated in May of 2001 so I would have been in Iraq almost immediately lol.

Maybe not though.. Not everybody in the military ever sees combat.

In fact, a lot of people don't realize it, but there are some seriously cushy jobs in the military - all branches. For instance, when I was in Germany there was a dentist who used to work out in the gym with us.. The Army paid for his education, and he filled cavities during the day to fulfill his obligation. Homeboy was also a triathlete who thought nothing of getting on his bicycle and riding to France or Austria on the weekend.. And there are tons of other military doctors and lawyers just like that who play golf, or indulge some other hobby.. None of those fukers will ever see combat - it's literally not their job.
It's a hot night. The mind races. You think about your knife: the only friend who hasn't betrayed you, the only friend who won't be dead by sunup. Sleep tight mates, in your quilted chambray night shirts.

Nah I know. When my dad was in they worked the doctors pretty hard. But he was Peds and this was before you really had OB/GYNs and an infinite number of specialists, so he saw all things kids and even delivered babies.

That's not necessarily true though.

I had an eye exam in Iraq, by an actual optometrist. There are also plenty of dentists and lawyers who deploy. I'd say during the 2002-2010 time period, there wasn't really any field that was non-deployable.

Deployment doesn't automatically = combat though.

Very few go outside the wire to close with and destroy. And for every one that does, there are probably hundreds who never leave a FOB - or even make it as far out as a FOB.
