Chicago Police Release Body Cam Footage of Fatal Shooting of Harith Augustus

Chicago police on Sunday released a snippet of video of a fatal police shooting less than a day after it sparked violent clashes between officers and protesters on the South Side.

The footage, taken from an officer’s body-worn camera, appears to show Harith Augustus, 37, a barber, break away from officers and attempt to pull a gun from a holster on his waist. He was shot dead in the street by police.

The video, however, runs less than a minute and does not include sound, so it is unclear what exchanges occurred between Augustus and officers in the seconds before the shooting.

So here's a question, if body cams prove a shooting is justified, than why protest/riot/rally?

I watched the video. Yes he clearly had a weapon and ammo, as presented by the CPD, with slowed down video - minus audio.

But did he do anything other than back away from the officers?

And to make this even more truly pathetic is that this happened only a week after liberals decided they had to march down the interstate, through this very neighborhood, because they told us shutting down interstate commerce was the only way to protest against guns....

Look how quickly the natives got the message....

he doesn't grab the gun, but it looks like he is lifting his shirt exactly where the gun was exposed. Remember in the officer's minds they see the gun. It's likely they yelled 'gun' upon seeing it. Meaning the guy then reached exactly where the gun was. Maybe he wasn't going for it and was doing something with his shirt. Unfortunately for him, due to the series of events, the police would be justified in shooting him.

You're right. He reached behind when he saw the other officers coming. Then reached again when he ran into the street and ran into a CPD car.

as soon as the guy goes for his weapon the police open fire. It honestly looks like he went for it, failed to get it out and tried to continue running.

If you were the police officer and you didn't open fire in this scenario it might be you not going home at the end of the day.
