Judge orders WH to temporarily reinstate Acosta's pass

Link:https://www.axios.com/white-house-or...9571c4abb.html

Interesting. Not a verdict by any means, but if it continues that path it either sets precedent that hard pass to access WH grounds is every reporters right, or it will go to Supreme Court.

He keeps shouting and interrupting others with or without mic. Everyone is doing their job and he makes every WH press conference into Acosta Show. I don't think other reporters even like him lol.

The judge didn't give a verdict on the merits of the case. He simply said there needs to be a process and procedure in place before taking a pass, which I agree with.

The Orangeman doesn’t like hard questions.

Keep it up, Jim. It’s your (our) job to keep our president in check. That should be the case for all presidents. Presidents shouldn’t be able to openly lie without being called out for it. Thanks, Jim Acosta.

Our president is not a facts kind of guy, he’s been more of an emotions kind of guy.

So what should happen if a reporter just shows up to the press conferences and just yells at the top of his lungs for the entirety of the conference? What if this reporter does this every single time?

I think Acosta is a useful idiot; and interrupts too much.

From what I've gathered from the AP - he isn't well received. Most other journalists trying to do their job for the well being of the country, their employer, or themselves / belief of country would rather see him gone as it hurts the Press and strengthens Trump's narrative about the Press.

CNN should get rid of Jim and bring in someone else. CNN is a propaganda machine so; they won't... it is like trying to tell the USSR communism is bad. You can't get rid of an ideology - you can only remove the state that promotes it. The best thing that could happen to the AP core is CNN going out of business.

This seems appropriate to me, his ban was very clearly politically motivated, which is a huge affront to primary purpose of the first amendment.

Okay. You need to read the story about Robert Sherrill who was a jouranlist who had his press pass denied back in the 60's and won a case with the ACLU in the 70's (but never went back for the pass).

https://law.justia.com/cases/federal...569/124/35083/

"[...D]enial of a White House press pass to a bona fide journalist violates the first amendment unless it furthers a compelling governmental interest identified by narrowly and specifically drawn standards. [....A]ppellants must publish or otherwise make publicly known the actual standard employed in determining whether an otherwise eligible journalist will obtain a White House press pass. [...N]otice, opportunity to rebut, and a written decision are required because the denial of a pass potentially infringes upon first amendment guarantees. Such impairment of this interest cannot be permitted to occur in the absence of adequate procedural due process."[9]

I'm telling you the law. You have to have a due process to remove a press pass - and that due process needs to reveal you're a danger to the president and their family.

Jim isn't going to harm anyone. He's loud and annoying and a defacto meme that Trump trumpets about and almost seems like a dancing puppet.

If you follow the link and look at the Constitution you’ll see that (assuming the summary is accurate) the claim is his first and fifth amendment rights were violated. The fith is about due process, so it would appear the argument isn’t that anyone has a right to be in the WH press pool, but once granted that right the president can’t just revoke it because his/her feelings got hurt.
