It's actually really interesting looking at the empirical data on hydroxychloroquine.. there's evidence on both sides of the spectrum pointing to eitherno better than placeboorsignificant decrease in death rate. I don't think anyone can argue that we needa lotmore research to be done here.

Whatever helps when you are in really bad shape at the hospital, but some of the other options seem more promising at the moment.

Why would big pharma not want a cheap, readily available treatment that they could mass produce and jack up the price? Look how much gilead is getting paid to produce remdesivir. Much more than they ever received to research the drug.

I’m not arguing the safety of the drug. While there are side effects, it’s obviously been cleared for use to treat several chronic illnesses. There is a difference, though, on considering the side effects of a drug where the benefits are clear cut vs very, very questionable. Risk/reward.
