[Official Discussion Thread] UFC 230: Cormier vs. Lewis: (11/3/18)

Everybody knows this is DC's fight to lose. But it's MMA and unpredictable things happen all the time.

I've been a DC fan since Strikeforce Challengers. I remember Scooterbrah making fun of me for posting discussion threads and no one showing up lol. But it's good to see DC finally getting his due and it seems like the fans have started to embrace him now.

I'm not going to lie, I kinda got chills at the end of the ceremonial weigh-ins when he said:

"My name is Daniel Cormier. I'm the champ. I'm the GOAT. Come watch me fight tomorrow night."

Whether you agree with his claim or not, that was a pretty gangster thing to say and highly quotable. He's definitely stepping up his marketing/microphone game.

They say Brock Lesnar will be in the building tonight. We'll see how they handle that post-fight (assuming DC wins), especially coming off the heels of the Conor/Khabib fiasco.

Weidman and Lewis WAR both

Those unaware Brock was given the WWE Title yesterday in the Saudi Arabia event. WWE, Vince, Steph, Triple H, etc. would very much love it if he WON the UFC HW title while having him remain their WWE champ.

Some of you, any of you, admit that would be just crazy?

I'm watching hoping Lewis KO's DC, and Brock gets in His face.

DC’s just going to pull what he did in the Silva fight

Then chase Brock around because he knows he will never be a draw

War Lewis though. Not really a fan of his fight style and (lack of) skill set , especially with him sort of calling a time out in the Volkov fight, but I’d enjoy seeing DC lose via one of Lewis’ head kicks that he’s gotten better at throwing

Weidman vs Jacare.. Hate to see either guy lose. Wish they brought in Costa once Luke dropped out. I like Costa but I think Weidman would shock a lot of people if that fight managed to be put together after it was rumored. I think Jacare wins this on speed

Brunson/Adesanya. Not too interested in this fight.. I see it being a decision

Branch.. I honestly forgot who his opponent is

Pretty weak card actually

Lol.. Jones he is not. He’ll never get a finish in his career, at MW at least

Brunson lays on him with his wrestling or Israel backs up and evades all night and point fights. I’m not sure if Brunson is patient enough to actually wrestle, but that’s his path to victory

Adesanya already has a finish at 185 is the UFC. Brunson has completely abandoned his wrestling in his last fights and likes to come forward swinging with his chin up. If he does that tonight he will probably get knocked out with a counter.

If you watch the MMAFighting Preview Show I posted in the OP, that's Chuck Mindenhall's prediction for this fight, Brunson charging across the cage with his potato striking gameplan and getting KO'd in the second round.

I didn't see that, but based on his most recent fights, there is no reason to believe he will do anything different. To be fair, he does win a lot of fights that way, but he would be way more effective if he mixed in his wrestling and didn't try to finish every fight in 2 minutes.

In for Weidman Lewis and Brunson
Brunson Thought his win over leben was boring but he ended up having great performances since that

Oh yeah, forgot about that Wilkinson fight. That was on that Perth card though; a gimme fight for a new zealander with a can for his debut

I have Adesanya winning too. I would be surprised if it’s a KO, but obviously I’d like to see that. Hard not to think he just gets the decision

I like that they scored that as a draw. Probably should have been Frevola narrowly though.

Huh ? he got rocked hard in round 2, all other things being equal, if there was a winner it should've been Vannata

Vannata was also rocked in round 1 and he kind of gave away round 3 in the last minute. Round by round it would be Frevola 1,3 and Vannata 2. Again, not mad that they scored 3 even because it was pretty close.

I missed that Lyman Good/Ben Saunders fight. I see Ben got knocked out pretty quick.

That may be the end for Ben (again). That's four losses out of his last five fights and he's not fighting best in the division by any means. I mean, Lyman Good and Alan Jouban are good fighters, but still...

It's the first fight on the main card, so walk-outs will begin no earlier than 7:05 Pacific, 10:05 Eastern

Honestly won't start until about 7:15 most likely, but tune in earlier just to be safe
