Sergei Palvovich vs. Curtis Blaydes (April 22nd)

17-1 Sergei Palvovich has 14 of his 17 career wins via first round KO/TKO, including 5 of his 6 ufc wins, losing only to Alistair Overeem back in 2018. He stood toe to toe with Derrick Lewis and Tai Tuivasa and finished both men in under a minute in 2022.

Curtis Blaydes meanwhile is 17-3, losing only to Francis Ngannou, twice, and Derrick Lewis.

Who do you guys have in this fight?

I see Palvovich winning in spectacular fashion unless Blaydes secures takedowns and ground and pounds him. This is a huge heavyweight fight- winner will definitely fight for the title after Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic.

Will Blaydes' wrestling be enough against Palvovich's sambo background??

Sergei got rekt by Ubereem on the ground and Blaydes is arguably the best wrassler in HW so I'm calling a quick GnP victory by Blaydes. Hope he gets a title shot vs Bonny Grones Cojones nekt after Stipe gets mauled and retires.

Sergei looked like a beast against Tai and derrick lewis

Curtis is a different style fighter than them as a wrestler but i think Sergei gets the job done still

Both of these guys are way more deserving of a title shot than old man Stipe. Fuk the UFC and their circus.

Damn, easy money! Next week Caio Borralho is another smooth bet I think. Michal is a banger but Caio with that Judo & jitz background will probably submit the lad if Jimmy Crute could do it. I really like Caio as a contender for that top 5 spot in MW.

Da fuk you on about Stipe is one of the GOAT. He deff deserves a go since he stood down after the nganou knockout.

Then pavolovich deserves his shot after that. I reckon pavolovich needs a bit more time before jones anyway so this is likely perfect for him.

Strange that Curtis wanted to stand and bang. I think being able to withstand the first couple of solid cracks gave him fake confidence instead of really shooting for it properly.

The last time he fought somebody not named Ngannou or Cormier is 6 years ago lmao. A loss 2 years ago does not earn you a title shot, fuk off with that WWE chit. Fuk off with that GOAT bs, I guess I found Dana White's misc account lmao.

I think everyone at the UFC knows that Jon is only doing one more and he's not gonna fight a relatively unknown Russian with 6 first round KOs in a row. It would also be a total waste from a business POV.

I'm guessing they do Jon/Stipe in November, Jon walks off into the sunset as the undisputed GOAT, then Aspinall fights Pavlovich for the vacant title in December (assuming Aspinall wins his comeback fight).

To be honest, HW will be quite fun when Jon retires. Aspinall/Pavlovich/Blaydes/Gane are all young for HW. And they're all very good. There should be some good fights and rivalries there. Also Tuivasa, Spivac, and Volkov just behind.

sergei has some legit cracking power combined with a large reach.

would be interesting to see vs Jon Jones but I think Jones' wrestling would be too much.

Pavlovich is the only MMA heavyweight who I could see cracking Ngannous epic chin and putting him on skates/possibly knocking him down.

Fuark too bad pink goof won't let us see that fight ever. I feel like Pavlovich is way more accurate and measured than Ngannou but Ngannou definitely does have the power edge and it would only take one haymaker or even a somewhat short punch would probably do it.

Pav looked great. I thought Blaydes would take it.

Time for Jon Jones to duck and insist on fighting Stipe.

Wait why the fk is Jones fighting Stipe? dude last fight was a KO loss.. and it was over TWO ****ING years ago.. March 2021 to be precise

Jones reminds me of Mayweather.. both obviously fking great

But both seem to pick and choose who they fight way too much and usually when they fight someone you want.. its after the guy has lost or isn't prime anymore

agreed, Pavlovich should be the fight to make. It's interesting because both guys have insane reach with Pavlovich seemingly having adamantium in his knuckles. But he would probably get wrestled to death if Jones is able to take it there.

An over the hill Stipe doesn't do it for me. Sure he has the wrestling and the boxing to make it interesting though. but Jones is going to have the better chin and be sharper, more athletic and quicker. And probably have the size advantage.

I see both guys retiring after the fight, lulz.
