I'm hoping Gaethje wins so they can make a trilogy fight.

IIRC Poirier usually takes some time to get going but he's durable AF. He often outlasts his opponents (at least in recent years) and then round 3-ish takes over. It will be fun to see as Gaethje is one of those guys that takes hella damage but strikes back with a vengeance. Probably going to be a super fun fight whether an all out war for 5 rounds or a sub by DP in 3,4,5 after a knockdown.

I actually want Gaethje to win as he is one of the most fun fighters to watch. Hope he gets another shot at Olives.

Think I've already said this but the altitude is going to ruin this fight. Gaethje lives and trains at even higher altitude than Salt Lake City so he should have a pretty big advantage here.

Gaethje is still a game fighter! He just sometimes has low fight IQ (i.e. trying to brawl instead of trying to clinch and grapple).

A friend of mine and I got tickets for the event.

I'd say its a fairly good play. I can see Dustin schooling him.

Anyone watch the card from this weekend? I ran a 95/1 10 fight parlay and Terence McKinney fuked it on me lol.

Hedge it baby! I used to run 12-13 hit parlays and did it in a weird way but still never hit lol. I chose 5-6 fights that I was most confident in and then bet an all available combinations of other 6-7 fights so I had everything covered. If those 5-6 that I didn't combo hit, any other combination of winners didn't matter, I was cashing in. I did around 36 $1 bets this way and the smallest win was going to be $50ish, highest in the $1000s if there were huge underdogs on the card. Thought I was being smart but it's so hard to even hit 5 correctly.

Had excel spreadsheets and everything, numbered the remaining fights that I wasn't sure of with 1/2 and did permutations so I could easily go through all 36 bets in a matter of minutes.

Nah fuk that brah. I just run £20-£100 per event if I like the card. Most of the time I don't even stay up to watch the fights. I just let it run for fun.

on the feet, I don't think there is a fighter in the lightweight division that has his combination of IQ, boxing ability and durability. He can outlast fighters in an all out war or pick opponents apart with his clean and technical striking. He's arguably the most well rounded fighter besides Charles in that division.

Unfortunately Justin likes to stand and bang and I don't think that really favours him. Poirier has never been known to have bad cardio or gas out fast. Plus he's a smart fighter and I think he realizes the adjustments he might have to make. Justin sometimes fights very smartly but other times he goes full stand and bang low IQ. You can't do that against Poirier.

Honestly I see Poirier knocking him down and submitting him. Justin never wrestles but I think Dustin is good enough at grappling and BJJ to neutralize that anyway. Unless he catches him off guard because nobody expects Justin to wrestle.

put the money on Gaethje. The altitude and 5 rounds will favor him greatly the longer it draws out. I can still see Gaethje getting tko if it doesn't go to decision in later rounds

Dustin hasn't steamrolled through anyone since 2016.
He tends to want to see what's coming (and ends up usually taking a few solid shots in the process) before settling in and finding holes in his opponents defense.
He may not want to eat leg kicks and get involved in a 5 round war at high altitude and come out more aggressive and/or put Justin on his back early.

I really like both fighters, but I see this fight going even worse for Justin than their first one.

Dustin is just so damn solid everywhere with a much higher fight IQ, and I don’t see where Justin has been able to find that perfect balance of staying the explosive killer but also being able to stay smart. Was great to see it “click” for him in the Tony fight, but that also may have been more of an indication of far Tony had fallen off.

tbh im suprised everyone is discounting gaethje to that extent. he gave dustin tons of trouble during their previous fight and he fought very smart against fiziev who is very durable and an excellent striker

not saying dustin wont win but i doubt this will be a walk in the park

Justin looked pretty good against Fiziev, should be a war. Going to the event since I live in Utah now, hoping for a barn burner.

good point. I think it will be a very good fight. I think it's hard sometimes to gauge what kind of Justin you get in the ring. I just think Dustin is just too well rounded as a fighter

I predict it will end in a draw, thus forcing Dana to give TWO BMF titles that night to two bad mother****ers which will also prompt a sudden rematch.

Dustin wins.
Justin wins.

But ultimately the FANS win.
