He literally got pushed like a baby before the knockout. It was also only 10 pound difference, as oppose to other divisions where there is 15,20 pound difference. On top of that, he's not a big 135er.

DJ was a lot smaller than Cejudo and managed to win the first fight

2nd fight it was different, Cejudo got better and used his size and wrestling to hold him down although I thought DJ won that fight as well.

I doubt TJ is weaker than DJ, either he just got caught with some good clean shots or the weight-cut really just drained him that hard.

I love TJ a lot but he has shown the tendency to get hit before.

I'm sure the weight cut didn't help but he was moving around like he was at BW.

I think Cejudo is just THAT improved. How fast he closed the gap between him and DJ (whether you think DJ won the second time around is up for interpretation -- but at the very least Cejudo won 2 rounds) was nuts.

It’s almost as if being 30 minutes away from death 24 hours before a fight is going to have an impact on performance.

Oh well.

cejudo physically looked the best Ive ever seen him, and his performance echoed his physique. Dillishaw looked like a scarecrow at the weigh ins and I dont care if its physically possible, its just not a good idea to cut that much weight because in the history of MMA very few people have proved competitive at the highest level when cutting that big a % of your natural bodyweight. Performance wise its just career suicide to fight a guy whos as good as the top guys are when you are drained and had a 6 -8 week torture test of starvation.

I still think TJ is better in overall skills and at 135 it might be a completely different fight. I also think that fight was stopped way too early, but thats what you get when you put yourself in that poor of a position.

That was an early stoppage.

Agreed.

As soon as I saw it, I knew people would be claiming early stoppage. But that's just what happens 100% of the time when a fight is stopped and the person is not unconscious. People want to see someone beaten nearly to death before a fight is stopped.

But a person who has been dropped three or four times, who is on all fours taking punches is not defending himself intelligently, and that's what the referee is looking for, intelligent defense as well as the safety of the fighter. On both counts, I think the referee did his job appropriately.
