You can do that submission on someone your size or smaller, it works well.
On someone who outweighs you by 40 lbs +, not likely...plus he's no Josh Barnett.

This is why people erroneously call it the fat man choke, because they believe that you must be a fatass or much bigger than your opponent to make it work. When in reality proper technique would have been enough to make Lewis feel like he was getting stepped on by a hippo.

There is a reason Lewis was able to last 30+ seconds until the bell and Lister tapped in 10.

You’re right he’s not josh Barnett. He’s just a guy who has more submission victories than Barnett’s had fights lol

Lewis was clearly too thick and strong, relative to Oleinik, he was going to buck him off if Oleneik changed positions. That was hail mary for O, you could see him praying after feeling Lewis on his feet. He couldnt squeeze lower, on the neck, and just cranked face with bad leverage. Oleneik put in a noble effort seeing as he came in at 227 and Lewis was likely 285.

Lister tapped in the very last moments of a long grappling match. This is a torture hold and works well on gassed opponents

i'm pretty sure Lewis will never be a serious title contender but he seems like a pretty good gatekeeper for any boomers and up-and-comers looking for a title shot

They were using different principles, if Josh applied the hold as Oleinik did he never would have gotten the tap. Why? Because Josh would have had to use brute force at the end of 20 minutes to crank the neck, he wouldn't have been able to sustain it.

Instead he used just enough strength to maintain the head and arm and just hung out and simply followed Dean's movements for a few second until he got the tap.

Lewis was at the end for a grappling heavy round, he was plenty tired and breathing rapidly enough that if the chest compression principle were applied he likey would have tapped instead of waiting 30+ seconds for the bell.
