razor close, what lost it for sean is he stopped putting his foot on the gas in round 3 and round 4, maybe the cut in his eye broke his defense but he didn't fight with urgency until round 5.

Nice win for DDP and he will only improve from that.

Strickland is just a average fighter who was hyped up because he beat Grace Jones, yeah it was funny watching Grace Jones take another L but then Strickland became ALMOST as annoying a presence himself.

First real African champ, who lives and trains there, not just on paper like the other fake clowns from New Zealand, US, and anywhere else but Africa. Congrats.

Good fight from both fighters, but DDP deserves it by pushing forward every round. Split decision is just about right. It was close.

They were nothing take downs when a guy can get up basically straight away imo thats barely a proper take down. DDP was extremely average on the ground.

Sean had to of landed twice the shots with that jab. DDP's face is a mess.

That should of been a draw if not a win for Sean, I had Strickland up by atleast a point... They over valued that cut, a rematch in the future is deserved thats bs...

DDP only won cause the takedowns, but by a small margin if that and I could see Sean winning that as well

Glad Du Plessis won.

He may be good on the mic, but Strickland is very boring in the octagon.

Throwing weak jabs for 5 rounds, trying to win a decision, doesn't make for an exciting fight.

Can't disagree with the judges' decisions. The split mostly came on round 3, which really could have gone either way.

So nice to have reasonable judges, instead of those Saudi phaugs calling Fury vs Ngannou.

I picked the exact method of victory and winner on a 5 round fight. It's all luck. There are some fighters that I recognize very well and can put together a decent prediction of the outcome. But it all comes down to luck.I was up around $1k at the time, so I kept adding more to the fight since I felt very strong about du plessis.

Which he shouldn't have. 1 2 and 5 went to Sean. Fight verdict gave sean 4 rounds, but close.



Take down with no control/damage is effectively useless.

The headbutt that cut sean was the game changer in the fight. That looked like 'damage' to judges. Clearly the only person with any damage was DDP.

But it sets up the DDP vs Izzy fight which is what they wanted in the first place.

But LMAO saying DDP did more damage.

He had good octagon control (which is a secondary scoring subject), take downs to no control/damage. Some of you should actually read the MMA scoring criteria for MMA fights.

I didn't catch it live but I watched a replayed today without sound (at work). I thought DDP won pretty clearly, though I will admit ^^^he looked a hell of a lot worse than Sean after the fight. People's bodies are different I guess. I was rooting for Sean btw. The only round I could decisively give him is the 5th. Maybe I need to watch again.

the fight was super close. round two was super close, even though Sean landed more shots.

Rd 1 and Rd 5 clearly went to Sean

Rd 3 and Rd 4 went to Dricus

Either way can't be mad at the decision. Both had a case for winning. Sean was landing more shots but DDP was landing the more damaging stuff IMO. Unfortunately Sean front loaded his efforts in R1/R2/R5 and had little output in 3/4
