Called it on Topuria for a long time. The man is so God dam good YEARS beyond his age. Nobody is dropping him for a long time. Not max, not movsar. He's better everywhere then anybody in the division.

Idk man, he's yet to face someone who puts in the output that max does. He has 5 round experience but that's vs Emmett someone who just throws bombs and is honestly not a top 5 fighter. I think Max takes it 3 rounds to 2. And it's not like Max hasn't fought heavy hitters like Dustin for example. I guess this Geathje fight will be very telling because if Geathje can't put him down, Illia doesn't have a chance in hell to do it.

Volk looked okay up until the KO but Topuria was the one moving forward and stalking Volk.

Never seen him on his back foot so often like that.

Maybe I don't remember but where does this "Ilia has devastating power" come from. He couldn't put Jai away (Jai was piecing him up), Emmett, heck even Youssef Zalal. Recency bias because he connected right on the sweet spot with Volk or I'm missing something? I mean his boxing is great but I think Emmett hits way harder.

I've never seen the Zalal fight but you can't expect anyone to have a 100% KO rate, and it was early in his career. Ilia is someone who noticeably improves fight-to-fight as well.

There is more to someone having devastating power than just a string of one shot KOs imo (which Ilia does have). You can tell when he lands clean it fkin hurts. He might not have finished Emmett but he did drop him + Emmett looked like he had been hit with a baseball bat at the end of the fight.

He beat the fuk out of Bryce and dropped him a couple of times (iirc). He was rocked hard which allowed Ilia to ragdoll him on the ground. It could have easily been a KO/TKO.

Emmett is a big puncher but he has 4 KO/TKOs in 14 UFC fights. If there's any recency bias I think it's from his last fight. That was just a perfect punch. If you look at Ilia's fights, when he lands clean, his opponents either get fukked up or go down. Emmett doesn't have that imo. Not many fighters do. The last I remember at 145 was Conor.

Topuria is very good and he is very young as well relatively speaking. Volk IMO came back too soon. If there was any weakness Volk had it was his chin. He might have messed up and his chin may never be the same. He needs to take a year off minimum to recover before he fights again and IMO it shouldn't be against Topuria. Give him a tune up fight vs a top 5 contender.
