Went to the right guy. Shouldn't reward last seconds takedown attempts that do zero damage. Also they should reward td defense

Don't understand how you can say Usman did 0 damage but leon did, but not interested in debating it. Usman had him rocked at least once.

TDD isn't "effective grappling" so it's extremely obvious it should not be scored.

Sounds like a dumb thing to say. Leon did do more damage but it's not like Usman did nothing.

Snoozeman btfo. Lost even with a point advantage.

Crotch-sniffing ****g0ts wiping their tears away in disbelief. How could judges not give a W to a lame time wasting grappler?! Looks like you need to actually fight to win now.

Meh, not surprised. Leon has zero fight / heart, and Usman fought the safe / boring fight I thought he would. Like I said before, don’t care for either of them, and not surprised by such a boring ass fight.

I did score it 3 rounds Usman, 2 rounds Leon, for 48-46 Usman. No idea how anyone scored soft, back foot, no heart Leon this fight.

Please let Khamzat, Shavkat, or Colby save this boring ass division.

Imo Colby is too soft, Leon would have the size advantage.

Lmao this has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever read that is MMA related.

Honestly coulda been 47-46 with a two points deduction. But good call anyway.

I was just afraid that the judging would give it to Usman because they unfairly counted pressure as a judging criteria when Leon obviously landed the more impactful shot. I think scoring a fight like this live is incredibly difficult anyway because the rounds were all quite close. I wouldn't have been very surprised to see a draw.

Lol, all good brother. Am turning over a new leaf in regards to respecting other peoples posts in here. Trust me, took quite the effort to find a bar showing the fights here in San Pedro, Belize. And I’m far from a casual.

If Leon’s last 6 or 7 fights are what you are looking for in a champion, then good on ya, and congrats.

I personally want and expect more, and am entirely underwhelmed with Leon (and Usman).

i was expecting either 48-47 edwards or a draw. Wasn't really expecting an Usman robbery because of the home turf but wouldn't have been extremely surprising

honestly Usman should retire. He had a great career and it's all downhill from here. I bet he'll change his mind about sticking around when the pain kicks in

He's had a great career and we've seen it with aging legends time and time again when they go on too long. It's not pretty. I've never been an Usman fan but for his sake it would be a nice moment to retire.

Much respect, been doing the same myself. There are a lot of good people that enjoy this sport and want to shoot the **** with others. I know I've been guilty many times but there is no need for the personal insults and name calling that degrades the discussion.

I do agree with you about not being a fan of Edwards but he put Usman's career to bed, winning and defending the belt fair and square so I have to respect him as a legit champion.

All good.

At the end of the day, you HAVE to know that if you leave it to the judges then you need to convincingly beat the champ, especially in his home arena. That’s basic Fighting 101 schit.

It was a close fight, and am not upset over Leon winning, just not how I happened to score it…… while drinking all day here in San Pedro, lol. So who knows, I could be totally off.

Glad Justin won too. Super close fight, and didn’t look good for him at all after R1. Definitely think if it was a 5 Round fight that Justin would have made it a bit more convincing. Was surprised at how damaged Raph’s face was. Both guys fought tough.

Bruh I can totally get if you aren't a fan of Edwards or Usman but if you cannot see they're both high level MMA fighters you honestly understand very little about the sport. Quite frankly that is a pretty retarded take and there's no way around it.

You do realize that under the new judging criteria control and aggression mean almost zero and that Usman had no effective grappling under the new rules, right? A lot of people make the mistake of being stuck thinking about the old judging criteria and they see a fighter push the pace and go forward and think they're winning.

The (relatively) new judging criteria are very clear. Damage is what counts, when it's effective striking and grappling. Only, and only if all of those are COMPLETELY equal do secondary things like octagon control come into account.

Agreed, Khabib's words hold true again "There is no way that a man can be at the peak for two times". There is nothing left for Usman but gatekeeping and brain damage. He is not a guy like Gaethje that loves the fight and putting on a show. Usman is really not interesting at all without being champion.

Usman's run to the championship was pretty boring fence pressure clinching. RDA, Woodley. I hated him after those fights and it turned me off of UFC some that that ended in a belt. But he had some absolutely bangers as champion. Burns, Colby x2, Masvidal KO, and he was so active he actually became one of my favorite champs.
