My friend spent around £30,000 GBP on his wedding approx 10 years ago. Wouldn't be me.

Me & my girl are going to fuck off and get married on our own somewhere, then come back and just throw a party for everyone else. Let's be real, you blow all that cash for what? People that CBA going, other people that are only there for a piss up, half the people don't even eat the food, people that won't even remember it etc etc. Fuck that.

Waste of money srs. I don't understand why people don't just get married at the courthouse and throw a party for their friends/family. It would run them a few hundred dollars total.

I think mine was around 25K in the late 90's. That was at a top of the line restaurant/wedding venue for about 150 people. $70 to over 100K is what I've been hearing more recently. That's insane.

the couple where both around 40 and make over 300K each, so a 100K+ wedding isn't going to crush them, the woman makes over 400K and she wanted what she wanted

Oh def! First wedding if you have the money you might as well do what you want. I'd think it was crazy if that was for a 2nd wedding. If I ever got married again I'd prob do a destination wedding with just us, my son and my mom. Then maybe have a party here for friends.

You can't get crap for 35k up here. At least if you want the full catered thing with hall, DJ, flowers, etc.

It's moronic that people pay that amount for a party just to show off for their friends and family.

Not waiting or hoping. I have not wanted to remarry since my divorce. He's never wanted to get married or have kids. That was a huge discussion before I agreed to start dating since I'm obviously past the having kids stage. 4 years later he's still adamant that he doesn't want kids. If he proposed I'm honestly not sure what I'd do. I've always said that if I did remarry I'd want something very small and not fussy. I only thought about a beach wedding because his brother and his fiancee want to do a destination beach wedding and it sounded like a nice idea to just go away and do it.
