Isn’t it crazy we haven’t landed a man on Mars yet?
Growing up we were misled to believe space exploration was so advanced that we were on the cusp of getting humans to Mars. My teachers in school would talk about it all the time. I specifically remember the year 2020 being mentioned. We even had a field trip to a space museum where we simulated a Mars mission.
As I got older, I would hear Elon make huge promises about SpaceX beating NASA to Mars, claiming he could get it done within a few years. This would’ve been around 2012. Turned out to be bullshit.
Now we’re in 2026 and NASA can’t even get us back to the moon. The rocket that is supposed to only orbit the moon, not even land on it, keeps getting delayed because they don’t know what the fuck they’re doing.
How are we gonna get to Mars brahs?

We should probably focus on fixing the issues on this planet first.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Apparently harder than we thought and probably not the best decision currently when we can revisit the moon which is about 3 days away instead of 7 months and learn to sustain ourselves there before heading further away.
I do remember when they said we'd be on Mars around this time though.
If we do land on the moon, it could be another 15 years before we get to Mars because we'd have to build a base on the moon and do a ton of research that'll most-likely take a decade plus. Once we send people to Mars, they probably won't come back... so there's that.

It isnt crazy or surprising we havent done it relative to the extreme challenge it actually presents. I think people hear all the ambitious headlines and dont necessarily appreciate how impossible and dangerous it actually is scientifically to get humans to the surface of Mars.
They set these ideas in motion decades ago because they knew just how long and laborious it would be to even make a halfway decent attempt one day. The magnitude of space travel danger and difficulty is enormous. It's basically the biggest goal you could possibly set for civilization. So it will take a longggg time if it ever is achieved.

Humans aren't meant to leave earth, there would likely be many issues we would run into over time with our bodies being in a place we are not evolved for, forget about new planet civilizations, the rare minerals and metals may be of use though.

Because with the exception of a relative few people, most people can't really comprehend how fuking far away mars actually is.

NASA probably never went to the moon in the first place.
9/11 was probably also an inside job.

Why bother when you can put robots on mars and have them do the work instead of risking someone's life for no real gain? Although it would be funny to drop a couple manlets on mars and leave them there as a troll job.

It's not crazy at all
There is so much red tape, everything is so slow and expensive these days. It would cost over a trillion dollars to put a man on mars
Also don't forget NASAs budget during the apolo missions was like 15x more or something compared to today

We could have bene to Mars by now, but instead, the western world got saddled with having to babysit infinity 3rd worlders.
SRS.
Think of all the money, time, deaths, destruction, etc, we must suffer through, just because 3rd world people cannot function in a high-trust 1st world civilization.

The only thing that makes me think it might happen is we're at the dawn of a new space race. China has committed to landing on the moon by 2030 and Trump promised to get it done by 2028. Assuming China is successful (likely) and if they beat us there (very possible) we are going to see a massive increase in funding to compete with their space program. Then it's not unreasonable to imagine we get to Mars by mid-century.
I hope I live to see it.
