IMO they are but I’m an audiophile. The only speakers that seem to work for me are Paradigm . Unfortunately the series that’s comparable to mine have gotten even more expensive.
I have Studio 100’s on all corners, and their CC690 centre . Also have their 12” sub . I’m in a house atm and would not bother getting very elaborate in a condo , as I piss off my neighbours on occasion 3 houses down when I get rinsed

I'm no audiophile, but you're really shorting yourself if you're just using regular tv speakers... At least get a soundbar, it's loads better than your tv speakers.

Of course a full speaker set up with receiver etc is the best set up, but a soundbar is more than fine and at least bare minimum.

I usually just go for a nice soundbar with rear speakers for a more simple setup, but I got a nice home theatre for my main TV setup. Both make a massive difference over the TV speakers which are never really good enough.

Nice man you have always had good setups and your workout basement setup has always been really cool, appreciate all the hand craftsmanship you put into your stuff down there. That terminator was awesome, but I heard it broke one day.

I have a pair of Polk Audio XT60's that I barely have above 10% power in my apartment lol. If you don't want floor standing speakers then I'd go for bookshelf speakers (and maybe a subwoofer). Buy the speakers first then decide if you want a subwoofer. You can always get a subwoofer and keep it low for a fuller volume if you live in an apartment, but yeah, you'll never max it out (or shouldn't).

yeah i have a yamaha receiver and currently just running a 2.0 setup but in the past i have run a 5.1 setup.


Its well worth it, if you are using TV speakers you are missing out a lot.

Basically 3 main options


An AV receiver plus 2 - 5 or more speakers and sub, for surround sound
a soundbar with or without a sub
A set of powered speakers 2.0 stereo and some have a sub output (make sure it has a decent remote with it)


I know youre in a Condo so you could skip the sub if your speakers go low enough, mine go low enough that i dont even have my sub hooked up anymore it was too loud
