Not a funny subject for me. My dad has had Parkinson's for about 4 years now. I guess he's stage 1-2 at most. It's changed his personality big time. He's not interested in doing anything anymore, and it doesn't seem to really even effect him outside of his hand shaking noticeably more at rest. Dopamine receptors not firing right is what causes it, so I get it but it's painful to watch his personality change so much.

Sorry to hear about your dad. It's such a horrible disease.

Parkinson's or Alzheimer's are up there with me least preferred ways to go.

Dunno, alzheimers, als, cancer, are all far worse than Parkinsons. For the most part, Parkinsons is slowly progressive and not fatal. Typically people don't even reach stage 4 Parkinson's for more than 20 years and most people are diagnosed age 65+. By the time they're bed ridden, they're probably mid 80s to pushing 90. Clearly not all cases, but the majority.

I couldn't believe that, when I was searching for pramipexole to have on hand in case prolactin got out of control on deca, it said it was a dopamine agonist used in Parkinsons patients.

My family has a history of Parkinsons on my mothers side, gf has Alzheimers on both sides of hers - gonna be an interesting future if we both make it all the way...

Thanks Kimm! I don’t really recall the last time he smiled since being diagnosed. Not sure how much is the actual disease doing what it’s doing vs fear and a total doomed mindset.

Just wondering has he tried pot? I'm not a pothead and never was but I've seen videos on the net where they show someone smoking a joint and then they're normal. Just wonder if he's tried it.

Yeah he takes delta-8 or delta-9 gummies. Neither my mom or dad had never did a drug in their life prior. It pisses my mom off pretty bad, bc he sleeps so late in the mornings now.

He takes it to sleep, bc without it he wakes up with the top of his toes and feet cramping which can last all night (part of the neurons not firing correctl.)

I’ve seen those weed videos where it looks like a miracle but it’s not. It just can ease and help a little. The only thing I’ve seen that can give your a better quality of life but also not a cure if it gets that debilitating is deep brain stimulation surgery.
